Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Teams Hit the Road for Flamboro Speedway

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

After a short break, its time for the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – to head back into battle. Saturday, August 5th, the popular open wheeled tour will tackle the venerable Flamboro Speedway, near Hamilton, Ontario.

After establishing an impressive mark of having 5 first-time main event winners in its first handful of 2017 shows, the series seen repeat victors in its most recent pair of events. Bill Pickford – who along with Rick Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth make-up the team of OMRS officials – says its already been a great year for the drivers and teams who run with the group.

“We’ve had a strong season since our first event on the calendar,” Pickford said. ‘Even our annual Test-a-Mod day at Peterborough was a success and helped introduce about 10 drivers to our exciting brand of racing. Starting with this weekend’s show at Flamboro, we have about a handful of events remaining on the schedule, but things have no sign of slowing down.”

Pickford says there are 13 drivers registered for this year’s point chase, with the top 7 in the standings separated by just 70 points. Parity has been a trademark of the tour since the inception of the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and the 2017 schedule has been no exception. The series mission statement of providing a competitive, affordable racing series for racers, by racers has drawn new faces to the group, year after year.

“It would be impossible to predict whether there will be another first-time winner, or if someone might pick-up their 2nd; or even 3rd main event victory of the year,” said Pickford. “The only thing that is know for sure is that the fans will see a great show when the series returns to Flamboro, Saturday, August 5th.
