3 dates in Ontario next season...

PS - this forum (ISMA Modifieds) is incorrectly named.  ISMA cars are not "Modifieds".

Should that be Saturday July 11 for the Cayuga ISMA date? July 12 is a Sunday.

Looking at ISMA tenative schelude (2009 ) for ISMA fans who follow this series you will see lots of points racing as last year they had 12 points races while the 2009 schelude shows 17 points races plus under negotations 2 other races at Epping & Thompson.Changes for 2009 by looking at it are Oswego Race on Labour Day weekend Friday night has been changed from a 50 laps feature to twin 30's.They have added extra races (Delaware & Berlin each have 2 races while last year they had only 1 each and have given one to Cayuga. They also dropped the East- West Race at Concord N.C. Looks like a busy 2009 season for these cars.

The Cayuga race weekend is an off week for the Nascar Truck series. I hope Johnny Benson shows up. He mentioned in an interview after the season that a Supermodified championship is one that he'd like to have.

schedule looks good. Wondering also if MSA will have any Cdn shows?. And Tommy, I think everyone realizes ISMA modifieds is just a contraction of "ISMA Super Modifieds" as the cars did grow out of bug type modifieds when the rule book was thrown away. Perhaps Evan should drop the ISMA part and just use the term "Super Modifieds" so MSA and others could be considered under this topic.

You are right that it is a contraction, however it is also a misnomer, and one I frequently hear (or see) from people who have never seen these cars race.

Clarification on Pinner's board from Delores Murphy of ISMA says they will be at Cayuga on Sunday the 12th of July...

I was hoping Cayuga's ISMA date would be on Saturday July 11 so I could do both it and the ACT race at Kawartha on Sunday July 12.

Mike32 reguarding your posting MSA (Midwest Supermodifeds)their 2009 schelude will be released before Jan.1st and they are not racing in Canada in 2009.As for ISMA their total purse money for next year is $735,000.00 US .Pretty good purse payout for this type of racing.

There may be more than 1 track to consider here...I'm sure Cayuga is probably looking at other Saturday tracks in the area and not wanting to conflict with them...and let's be honest...how much crossover is there really from the stock car fan base into the open wheel fan base and vice versa?  This section of the forum isn't even named properly...that shows a bit the level of knowledge and interest from the stock car side towards open wheel...another example is some of the things that were said about the Can-Am Midgets on this website, especially before and after the Barrie event this year.

To be entirely selfish, having it on the Sunday is good for me - that Saturday is traditionally an SOS race day most years, so I would have to be at their show instead of at the ISMA show.

As for MSA racing in Canada, that group couldn't draw particularly good fields in their ventures just into Michigan.  Not trying to run down the MSA, but it's not in the best interest of their racers to make them travel a relatively long way, and have to cross a border.

I agree Tommy. We will probably be running on Saturday. We want to take advantage of those Bad Azz machines being so close to home. Besides we have to use our once again complimentary season tickets to Cayuga. I'm glad there owning up to thier promise of two years of tickets for all of us who supported them that first year.

Another consideration for Saturday vs Sunday is the ISMA group itself and their (probable) desire not to run against Oswego's non-wing Supermodified shows which run weekly on Saturdays...running Sunday will probably produce a larger car count at Cayuga, and will keep ISMA and Oswego from running against each other...On top of that, MSA runs almost always on Saturdays, so the potential is there for them to be running somewhere on that Saturday...

So, to summarize, maybe "they" are smart after all. ;)
