Welcome Home Stompin Tom
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:57:25 PM »
I for one am glad to see Tom back at Sunset on a regular basis,i really don"t think he was as appreciated or welcome at Barrie as he is at Sunset. It seems like more of a friendly and family atmosphere at Sunset.A lot more really good drivers overall in all classes. Welome home TOM.

Yes Stompin Tom #47,,,,,  Welcome back to your home track. We all missed you making a great show.  But would you please lay off those rear ends and pushing into and out of the corners. You can and have driven a lot of good clean racing that got you to the top. Try to go back to it and maybe you will become another track champion., regardless of those who hate you say.

Hey scooter, nice comment, that the best you can do, I mean this coming from a field filler and all you must have a lot of time there to complain about others.
Let me demonstrate for you.

Congratulations to Stompin Tom on a great win at Kawartha aaaaaaaaaaaand a great win at Sunset.    :P

I was just wonderin why Tom left Barrie!!! if anybody knows...does anybody know? He always ran well at Barrie, then this year he kind of fell into a slump and then he up and left! Was the slump his reason or was it something else?

Stompin Tom left Barrie because of all the crap that they did to him. He could not touch anyone, but anyone got the hell away with murder, even spinning him out and got their spot back, while he had to go scratch. If you read the rules? They state that "ALL" involved cars must go to the back. The started would over look him getting hit. But let him do some hitting back he got put to the back. The new starter at Barrie should go back south to where he lives and retire. Ralph did an excellent job in Enforcing the rules. The joker that replaced Mr Vokey while he was away was a joke as he did not pick a section of cars to watch. The two blimps watched the same group all the time.

Now for the real reason Stompin Tom left Barrie!!! HE WASNT WINNING!!! ( one heat on opening night) and anyone that knows Tom as well as I do knows his firm desire to win!! I have been at Barrie every night this year and have not seen once where someone spun him and got the spot back where he was then in turn but to the back!! I do think there are other issues involved but I am not going to get into people's personal lives not my style!! And Tom has every right to compete where he wants, and I for one with him nothin but success at THE DUMP ON THE HUMP!!! He knows hes faster than anyone there as that was proven this week just like I called it, when he didnt have to come from the back anymore he would dominate at the DUMP and thats just what happened!! I do think the # of incidents and repairs he had to make due to such incidents played a part in his decision as well!! And not to drag up the schobocle that was June 23rd but I think it left a sour taste in his mouth that no action was taken against Lewis and I agree there that something should of been done.  Even a 1 week suspension would of helped after causing that wreck!! But Tom does drive agressive as well and some of those fixes both this year and last were do to his own doing as well, and I think he would be the first to admit that, as he did when he ended up on his roof last year!! Thats the one thing about Tom hes stand up like that and will tell you if it was his mistake or someone elses!!!

well i could see how one may view that he left because he was treated unfairly. Most people think that way when something happens to them on the track! I don't know whether thats true or not. I guess the only one that can really say is Tom himself

Well Scooter i do tend to agree with you on some of your issues.I think some people assume he gets a lot of hype which i"m sure he does, but he has probably been around a lot longer than most drivers today and had a lot more success to show for his efforts so people see his name mentioned a lot more and assume hes egotistic.I do think that the cost of weekly repairs played a big role in his leaving , maybe a little to do with his driving style. On the point of him getting picked on for being a little more rough on the track,i do think it had more to do with the flagman than anyone else.Hes always driven agressively and never been rubbed the way he was this year at barrie.Ralph flagged at both tracks yet he never let personal bias cloud his mind, sorry hes still not flaging, probably one of the best for fairness.I have many driver friends at both tracks and would love to see a way to bring both tracks together ,not only for car counts but what a rush for the fans it would be.

LIMEY''for your info. I have watched Tom and rooted for Tom at Barrie Last yr along with Baker and Watson ,,and Im sorry to say it but Tom is driving Different this yr. from last and every one else I have Talked to says the same thing, I know how many Championships He won BUT He is no ''Spring Chicken'' any more maybe he should Re think his time on the track Because the OLDER you get The slower the reflexes are. Hey got a great idea, with all the experience and knowledge he has he could be a tech for BSW, I hear they have an opening for the job. On a serious note, Tom Walters is a great racer, with a great track record, just saying some have noticed the difference in driving this year. Is it because of all the wrecks, who knows, but there does come a time when every racer has to hang it up and put all that they have learned to better use around the track. :D

Gimme a break, he won 2 championships at 2 tracks last year. And sits close at Kawartha right now.  How do you figure that its time to stop?  Age is only a number, how you perceive a number is your problem.  :-X
