The Factory at Corktown™ Opens with Mayor Duggan Ribbon Cutting

The Factory at Corktown™mixed-use space in the heart of Michigan Ave

DETROIT (September 6, 2015) - The Factory at Corktown™ was officially opened this afternoon with the cutting of the ribbon by the Buhl family, Britt Greene and The Honorable Mike Duggan, Mayor of Detroit.

The facility, trademarked as The Factory at Corktown™, is the home of Buhl Sport Detroit and Brothers Tuning Detroit. The Factory at Corktown is located at 1907 and 1927 Michigan Avenue, across from the old Tiger Stadium site. The building encompasses three floors and over 45,000 square feet of mixed-use space.

"Back in November of 2015 when we purchased the building we wanted to make an investment in the city, to keep our brand local and to be a part of the continuing renaissance of the Corktown area," said Robbie Buhl, co-owner, The Factory at Corktown. "Corktown is rapidly going through a rebirth and we are located right in the middle of the action.

"The building is a great multi-use space for what we want to do with our new venture. There is a big functional area that can be used for parties, where clients can bring cars in for reveals or have festive functions like holiday parties, wedding receptions or company meetings. Within walking distance of our front door are some of the finest restaurants and breweries in southeast Michigan.

The Factory at Corktown building is 45,000 square feet, three stories and has a large parking lot. The property has a rich Michigan Avenue history. Both buildings were constructed in the early 1900 by architect *Richard E. Raseman, and both were originally hosiery factories. The left side of the building was the headquarters of Chicago Hosiery, which moved to Detroit from its namesake city in 1898. Three months after construction started on this factory, work began on its companion, the Detroit-Alaska Knitting Mills.
