Hot night brings even hotter action at Brighton Speedway

On a hot night, fans were treated to even hotter side by side racing action at Brighton Speedway Saturday night.  The popular Gord's Water Vantastics returned bringing another full card of racing action.  The night presented by Bellevue Fabricating and Campbellford Chrysler also featured the Lava Clean Comp 4 Triple Crown Race 3, Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Thunder Stocks and Stingers.

Baldwin brings home third win

No. 5 Steve Baldwin earned prime real estate by virtue of a heat race win and used the advantage to pace all 30 laps of the Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model feature. The Trenton driver was hooked up from the drop of the green flag, determined to get back to victory lane as No. 09 Robbie Wilson and No. 15 Eli Mayhew went to battle for second off in the distance.  Wilson won that round but a caution ignited No. 12 Kyle Sopaz who took over runner up at the halfway point.  Sopaz had his work cut out for him chasing Baldwin as Wilson went to war with No. 57 Charlie Sandercock for third.  Wilson put up a hard-fought battle but Sandercock was relentless passing him on the high side.  At this point Sopaz and Baldwin were too far gone for Sandercock to catch.  Baldwin cruised to the finish line first with Sopaz in second.  Sandercock placed third with Wilson in fourth and No. 89 Austin King fifth.

Wild win for Whaley

No. 3 Nathan Rinaldi led the field of Bainer’s OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds to green in the 25-lap main event and was dominate for half of the race.  The 15-year-old Brighton driver was unshaken as veteran drivers No. 07 Curtis King, No. 29 Rich Sanders, No. 12 Adam Whaley and No. 87 Andrew Hennessy battled it out from behind. On the 14th time by Whaley snatched the lead forcing Rinaldi into a fight for runner up with Hennessy.  The returning champ was ruthless on the bottom as Rinaldi adamantly held him off nine laps.  On the final time by Hennessy passed Rinaldi but Whaley was already well on his way to victory lane securing his first win of the season.  Hennessy took home second with Rinaldi earning his first career podium finish in third, No. 39 Jonah Mutton placed fourth and King in fifth.

Reid reels in another win

No. 85 Austin Reid brought the packed field of Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks to green and dominated the entire 20-lap feature.  Warren Mowat was the first driver to give Reid a run for his money when the No. 2 machine slid into second on the 7th lap.  Wrestling their way up from mid-pack No. 72 Doug Anderson and No. 53 Wade Purchase and soon paid Mowat a visit and the three grappled it out for second.  Pushing Mowat back into fourth, Anderson and Purchase continued to duke it out door to door as Reid went on uncontested.  Pressure reared its ugly head for Reid on the last lap when a caution slowed the field.  Reid stomped on the gas and flew to the finish line forcing Anderson to settle for second.  No. 03 Justin Ramsay who started 14th earned a hard fought third place finish, Mowat took home fourth and No. 51 Mike Freeman placed fifth.

Flieler flies to the finish line

No. 11 Adam Flieler jumped on the lead from his second starting spot on the one the first lap of the Lava Clean Comp 4 Triple Crown Race 3.  Determined to get back to victory lane Flieler checked out dominating the entire 20-lap main event.  No. 50 Willy Bulten held on to his runner up position as No. 0 Tyler French muscled his way up from mid-pack.  On the 12th lap Bulten started to feel pressure from French.  Unable to keep the pace Bulten fell back into third as French moved in to take second.  Unfortunately for French, Flieler was well out of sight and sailed to victory lane forcing the No. 0 machine to settle for second.  Bulten took home third place bragging rights, No. 13 Joel Dempster placed fourth and No. 43 Devon Kippen earned fifth.

Vantastic night for LeClair

No. 55 Tristan LeClair was unstoppable in the Gord’s Water Vantastics 12-lap feature.  On the first lap, LeClair pounced on the lead from his second starting position with passenger John Cormier by his side and they never looked back.  In a thrilling feature and much to fans delight, No. 01 Shawn LeClair and No 121 Hunter Triemstra went door to door out for second with No. 47 Adam Switzer hot on their heels.  Tristan LeClair secured the feature win with Shawn Leclair settling for second and Triemstra taking third.  Switzer finished fourth and No. 12 Rodney Conley placed fifth.

Phillips and MacGregor secure solid wins

No. 70 Nate Phillips Jr. took the field of Quinte Junior Septic Stingers to green in a feature that got off to a rough start as soon as the drivers rounded turn two.  Four drivers got tangled up on the high side with three taking a dip in the creek.  Once the action resumed, Phillips Jr. flew to the finish line leaving No. 7 Cody Driscoll to take home second.  No. 42JR Aiden Fletcher finished third.

It looked like No. 25 Lawrence Evenden might be well on his way to securing his first Quinte Septic Super Stinger win of the season during the 12-lap feature.  Then on the fifth time by No. 19 Del MacGregor moved up and snatched the lead.  The two battled it out with No. 11 Jim Kotsilidis but MacGregor was unforgiving as he roared to victory lane.  Kotsilidis secured second, Evenden placed third, No. 95 Chris Lammle and No. 7 Rick Philips won fifth.
