Racing Forecast for June 19th
« on: June 18, 2010, 10:40:20 PM »
Synopsis: There is a shortwave trough leading a cold front that is moving into the area right behind the Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) that is taking place in the southern parts of the province right now. This trough will spark thunderstorms in the early morning hours, some with the chance of being severe. These storms will become high based and linear as the unstable air stabilizes later in the morning, this will give way to showers, sun and the chance at some popup thunderstorms. The rain should move off to the East mid to late afternoon for most places.

what this means for:

Barrie Speedway: The rain and thunderstorm action should stop by the early to mid afternoon, giving way to nice weather if you like sun and humidity. The rain should end between 3 and 4 with this latest run of the NAM, Jet is 55 mph and I don;t see that changing. The cold front will rbing rain right in behind around midnight.

Sunset Speedway: Same as Barrie, the rain should move off by mid afternoon giving way to a nice evening.

Peterborough Speedway: Sucks to be off to the east, the rain will hang around the Peterborough area until some time after 8. The rain will be light as only a few mm are expected to fall. Will JP wait it out?

Mosposrt Speedway: Mosport is right int he line of fire, their thunderstorms will be more fierce earlier int eh day and the rain will hang around most of the night.

Varney Speedway: will see the rain move off earlier int eh day but the approaching cold front in behind will be their downfall if they dont hurry the show, rain will start int he area around 10 pm.

Sauble Speedway: The same as Varney, but the rain will be harder and start around 1030 pm

The cold front will reach Sunset and Barrie by about 11, 1130 pm bringing light to moderate showers. After midnight things will pick up, with heave downpours from Georgian Bay to Toronto.

sorry man, forgot flammy haha

an update from last night. After the Derechos of yesterday moved through, they left a cool, moist airmass behind, much cooler than originally thought. This will make thunderstorm development hard today. I believe storms will still fire, but no further north than newmarket area. Rain is still an issue with the cold front though. Guidance, now has moved the cold front speed up a few hours, Barrie may start seeing rain around 9 pm. with the rain starting in sauble and varney around 7 pm

Flamborough is right nin the wheel house for thunderstorm development....IF they fire, Flamborough will see a lot of the action into the evening hours. To me, convection should start around 11 am and if Towers are breaking through the cap by 1 or 2 then we will have some nice storms....Flamborough will get the cold front at about the same time as Barrie, between 9 and 10, sparking showers.
