Tillsonburg Outlaws July 8 Race

Tillsonburg Outlaws

This week went by fast, it's already race day which is a sure sign I better get the newsletter wrote up.

July 8 Race

Aubry Smith and Noah Longthorne battled it out in the Tillsonburg Lubricare Beginners. This week they had some extra competition as selected Juniors added to the field for some exiting racing. Aubry finished in first this time but Noah claimed the Sprint win.

Speaking of Juniors, this group is getting big. The Smale Powder Coat sponsored class saw lots of action with the Spring Series top three doing it again, just in a different order. Tom Pellizzari was followed by Nick Sheridan and Kyle McGlone. If you have not witnessed the side by side racing in this group, you have missed some of the best racing anywhere. The racers are able to old the inside or outside line which makes for clean passing but some really tense moments for the parents as the outside line is sometimes only inches from the wall. Good job drivers.
Zach Kelly won the Sprint which is a sure sign he is up to speed, consistency comes next. This was Logan Lapierre's first week in Junior with the increased horsepower and he has already shaved almost a second per lap off his times.

The John Costello & Associates Seniors was typically close action with 3 different winners. Taking first overall was Cameron Davidson followed by Eric McGlone and John Smibert. Amber Meyer looked pretty comfortable this week with her new carb setup, even if she was upside down when I asked her. This week will tell the story as I am sure her team will not forget to put gas in two weeks in a row. This group is soo close that there was not a lapped kart in the first two races and only the leader managed to lap anyone in the final race.

The Expert Division saw two changes this past week. First, the race program went to a two race format, a 20 followed by a 30 lap feature. The second change was Bob Townsend made his return after some time off and drove very well and stayed out of the cautions. Now to build up some stamina and he will be all set. When the points were totalled last week, it was Scott Chesterman, Austen Giles and Brent Smith taking the top three. Fastest lap of the night was Cody Coburn with his borrowed motor.

Next race is tonight in Tillsonburg, July 15th
