ADRIAN STAHLE TAKES 3RD WIN WITH LUCAS OIL CAN-AM MIDGETS

Adrian Stahle took home the checkered flag for the third time this season in the highly competitive Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget series at Sauble Speedway. With 8 different winners so far in 2016 and three weekends remaining in the schedule, the points have tightened up to decide who will be the 51st Champion. Stahle remains the only driver with three wins. In Victory Lane, Stahle said "I owe this win to my Dad for all the nights he spends in the shop and for all the help from Paul and Mike Husby. They gave me a great car tonight. I want to thank my sponsors LARCA Custom Machining, Bell Cartage, Paragon Collision Centre, Can-Am Fabrication and of course Lucas Oil".

Stahle started the night out strong winning his heat race and would be on the outside pole for the 25 lap main event. When the green flag dropped Stahle took the lead going into turn one with Steven Murdock in second place followed by Ryan Fraser. Jeff Blackburn, winner last Saturday at Flamboro was 4th and Darren Dryden rounded out the top five. One lap later Dryden passed Blackburn and Mack DeMan followed moving into the fifth spot.

Stahle now had more than a ten car lead over the field. Dryden got around Fraser and set his sites on Murdock. Fraser and DeMan had a battle for the 4th spot with DeMan taking over two laps later. Dryden caught Murdock and they raced for position for the next three laps with Dryden taking the spot on lap 9. DeMan now had a very determined Darren McLennan on his tail. McLennan is within striking distance of points leader DeMan for the Championship and knew each position meant points earned.

With the halfway mark Stahle had 'checked out' over the field and his car was on rails. Dryden and Murdock continued to fight for second as DeMan had McLennan tight behind. Rob Neely caught the top runners and was now on the tail of McLennan. Stahle was running in the high 13 second range with a large lead over Dryden. The first and only caution came out as Adam Walsh spun in turn four. As the field gathered up for the restart Stahle wasted no time taking the lead. Dryden remained in second place with Murdock close behind. McLennan found his opening and passed DeMan for fourth. Neely was now all over the back of DeMan.

With five laps remaining, Stahle held a very strong lead. McLennan passed Murdock for third and Neely shot under DeMan for fifth place. Stahle remained at the top for the final laps with Dryden and McLennan battling for second. Neely and Murdock ran side by side with Neely taking over the spot on the last lap coming out of turn four.
Stahle took the win followed by Dryden, McLennan, Neely and Murdock. Heats were won by McLennan and Stahle.

The Can-Am Midget Club held their Annual Picnic at the track this Holiday Weekend and great food and fun was held by all.The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets next head to Full Throttle Speedway in Varney, ON for their only stop in 2016. This 1/4 mile high banked asphalt oval is always a challenge for the setups in these cars.
