Castrol Presents The Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend Is Underway


The Castrol presents the Victoria Day SpeedFest Weekend, the first major event of the season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, got underway on Friday, May 20.

Pirelli World Challenge’s top GT class held their qualifying session with California native Patrick Long setting the pole in the Porsche 911 GT3 with a time of 1:15.481. In second was Andrew Palmer in a Bentley Continental GT3 and Ryan Eversley was third in an Acura TLX-GT. In the GT Cup class, Montreal’s Chris Green was fastest with a lap of 1:20.100.

The first race was of the weekend saw Montreal native Nick Wittmer take the win in Pirelli World Challenge TC class. Toby Grahovec was second and Dennis Hanratty was third. Elivan Goulart was the winner in TCA class and taking the top step of the podium in TCB was Henry Morse.

In Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama qualifying, Scott Hargrove set the pace in his OpenRoad Racing Porsche 991 with a time of 1:19.719. Shaun McKaigue was first in the Gold class.

Saturday's action begins at 8:30 am with qualifying sessions in the morning plus races for Pirelli World Challenge (TC/TCA/TCB and GTS); NASCAR Pinty’s Series will also hold their first practice sessions. The GT class will get the afternoon started and will be followed by NASCAR qualifying and races for the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama and the Canadian Touring Car Championship.

The Clarington 200 will run on Sunday, May 22 at 1:30 pm.
