Looks like Chap and Jimfromwindsor both know their stuff. Right on all counts. Looks like no one took a stab at the 16 SS or the 29 SLM though. Funny, the 29 is a pretty big name too.  ;)

Yeah that was Earl. He came out of retirement in 82 to take over duties on the Ron Box 68, then in 1983 it was a new team with the 29. So these pics would be from 1983. Not sure how much success they had with the 29 car.

Honestly, I don't know who drove the 16 SS, but the way the file is labelled leads me to beleive that the driver shared a name with our resident flagman.  ;)

My first time at Delaware was when I was 7 years old (1980). These kinds of cars were what made me love racing, thanks gor the uplink.

Not an expert, just tried it, refused to listen to conventional thinking, broke all the parts trying

I believe the 16 was originally a Baker car. My family bought it and drove it painted as is for a short period of time.

More photos to come.

The 29 car was owned by Gary Cunningham, whose son Travis now races in the Sprint Car division at Ohsweken Speedway.  Unfortunately, Gary passed away last fall.

Billy Zardo

Pete Bennett. Watched this car go up and over the fence in turn 2 one night.

Dorechester's Carl Porter. Number 1 for ages, number 17 this year.

Speedy Jack Monaghan. He was 2nd to Earl in the McKerlie Millen 200 in this car.

Merrifield - one of the funkiest looking SLMs to ever grace the speedway

Windsor's Don Mallat. Yup...thats a Corvette.

One of Nilestown's Knotts. Steve or Larry?

This is still the car I think of when someone says Super Late Model. The Box Auto Body Special. Terry Kitchen

Dave Isen. London

These next 2 I don't have much recollection of. This one is labelled Henry....

This one's labelled Grady. (I'm thinking its Rich)

I loved those old SLM Boss Mustangs. This is Calgary's Paul Gilgan. This car was destroyed after being ridden into the turn 1 concrete by Ron Pearn's stuck throttle.

Wayne Turnbull

Frank Fraser. A legend from down east.

The 37 car started as Gord Henry who owned London automotive. After a few races Gord stepped aside and put my brother, Art Lake in the ride for the rest of the time he owned the car. The 79 was Rich Grady. This is back in the days when I worked at the track.
