CBRT READY TO KICK OFF 2018 PINTY’S SEASON
May 16, 2018. After months of preparations Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) is ready to get the 2018 season started this coming weekend as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series begins competition at the traditional Victoria Day Weekend event in front of the usual large crowds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
New to the team for 2018 is road course racer James Vance who will pilot the #1 Deloitte/ExpoSystems Ford Fusion with additional support from Houston Ford, FEL Automotive Learning & Promotion and Team LTD at both CTMP events plus the Toronto Indy and Trois-Rivieres races. Vance has claimed pole position and a second place finish previously in sports car events at CTMP.
CBRT General Manager Joey McColm was very impressed with Vance’s first showings in the car. “We tested with James last week and he adapted very quickly to the car and I think he’ll turn some heads this weekend” said McColm.
As previously announced by CBRT Brett Taylor from Calgary, AB will run the full season schedule and compete for rookie of the year honours in the #46 OTSFF Rockstar Energy car. The number inspired by the film “Days of Thunder” which first inspired Taylor to explore opportunities in NASCAR. Taylor has acclimated himself to the high level of competition quickly. Participating only six races total he’s posted top-ten results in two races at CTMP.
Also returning to CBRT this season is the very popular driver of the #25 Sun Space Sunroom/Wonder bread car Larry Jackson. One of the most engaging drivers in the garage area Jackson always has time to talk and take a selfie with fans. He’s also one of the most prolific at gaining positions during the race.
“It’s amazing how far Brett has come in such a short time,” said McColm. “He’s made so much progress, I can see podium finishes coming this season. And Larry is such an important part of our group, he’s so knowledgeable with car set up and preparation” he added.
With this enthusiastic group of drivers McColm expects CBRT will be the focus at each of the 12 race events on the schedule. “Each of these guys bring something to the table and you can feel the energy building within the team. We’re happy the winter is over and we’re poised to take some meaningful steps forward as a group this year” he stated.
Practice and Qualifying for the CBRT competitors takes place Saturday afternoon. The green flag waves for the Clarington 200 at 1PM Sunday afternoon. This race will be broadcast at a later date on TSN.
