Title: Re: Canadians Registered in ARCA
Post by: sleepy11 on January 23, 2008, 04:46:16 PM
As far as i know it was a Venturini car , but i didn't pay enough attention or ask anyone if the car had been supplied by someone else . I do know it was crewed by the same group of VMS guys that were looking after it at Gateway .
Your right that Venturinis stuff hasn't been as good as years gone by and it seems their stuff declined around the same time that Billy broke his neck .

PS  being new here why was my post edited for coc and who or what is coc ?

I went back and read the code of conduct again and there was nothing in my final sentence that was edited that violated the rules in anyway .

What i said was Ryans daddy has deep pockets and if he wrecks another car he can afford to rent him another one .

Now if that violates a rule here i am probally on the wrong board .

I found this after i posted from hill3
cofc is code of conduct who should have read it before signing on you agreed to follow it. there were a loy of good points in your post so i just deleted the ones that attacked people personally.

But since as i said i didnt personally attack anyone i dont see how this applies .

If you didn't attack anyone it doesn't apply and I never saw the original post.

Sleepy11 to get a better response to this please post in ask the mods and we can talk about it.

Thanks

I just read the thread in 'ask the mods' and can't post there since the thread is locked. As a long time member here I find that thread very disconcerting. It  is my opinion (or is that breaking the COC) that CRO is taking an over reaction to some problems it had and if the stuff sleepy11 had edited out were considered  against COC then we are in for a lot more editing for COC and I expect a lot less posters bothering to come to CRO. Losing the loose cannon posters might be no loss but I think we'll see more loss than that. If people feel they are being unfairly edited they won't bother posting anything. I am really concerned that this could be the beginning of the end.

38racing not to start this all over but he did use a swear word. Sorry you feel this way and if you feel you can monitor a board they be my guest.

I'm sick and tired of being questioned everything time something is done here. I remember the days when people were thankfull they could come to a board like this and read and post messages. I recall a lot of boards went down because the people running them couldn't handle all the attacks and swearing.

We have been running since 1999 and you can say a lot of posters will leave but you don't get the private emails i get, saying how happy people are that we clean up the site and they are coming back to post as they stopped posting as they were in fear of being attacked.

Yes we might loose a few but they will come back as they will see that there is no other board out there like this or that will stay up if they had to put up with what we have to put up with at times.

This is a free board and I don't get paid to do this, I do it because I enjoy racing. It feels like a full time job sometimes and Yes there have been times I felt like saying lets close it and just enjoy racing on TV but then I get these emails from members telling me they enjoy the site and I feel good that I can offer this site to the racing community.

Parents also know they can let their kids on here that are racing and feel part of a community without having to worry what their kids are reading. People seem to forget we run a board for all ages not just adults.

We could have told Sleepy11 to get lost and not look at what happened but we didn't I asked him to post it in ask the mods then sent a message off to the mods to look at and we came back with answer. It might have not been the one he wanted but it was better then us just saying who cares and moving on.

You could have also post in ask the mods instead of bring it up in the original post even though we locked the other post in ask the mods.

People have to understand they my not like the calls we make and some people may think some we make were questionable, no one is perfect and we are trying to keep the board running with out having blowup that get out of hand.

As I said before one of the mods edited on of my post for a word I used, so please stop saying that we have favorites as this is not the case and if I noticed this I would say something to the mods.

Like I have said before and I will say it again if you can feel you can run a better board do it and I would even help you set it up and I bet after a few months of people reporting post to you via email, all the private pms about stuff on the board all the fighting and swearing you would say I don't need this and close down. Yes some people have started there own boards and they are not up still as it is a lot of work and after a full day at work who needs more stress from a board??

I will leave it at that.

Thanks for listening to what I wrote.

Evan

I'm very sorry you don't understand this but you really have no idea how hard it is to run this site and that is why I asked for help and got some mods.

I think what we have don

I'm sure it's not an easy thing that you've chosen to do and good luck with it. I would point out as a final comment that much of the problem is with quotes like these

"..... so please stop saying that we have favorites as this is not the case......

I expressed an opinion about the approach you were taking and you come back asking me to stop saying something I never said. I wish you the best in what you are trying to do, just concerned about the future of what has been a very good site.

Canadian Racing Online i don't know where you got the idea i used a swear word but that is absolutely  100 % untrue . Not to open this can of worms again but i had to set the record strait.

I never said you said that about the favorites I'm using an example of what is being said.

I appologize to sleepy11 it was someone else that got warned with a swear word and I got mixed up and I'm sorry. I'm handling many complaints and just a slip.

Let me know when we are finished with the comments as I will delete the post as this forum is just used to resolve issues and let members that had the question say what they want to say.

OK, I've been debating for almost a week whether to respond to this topic or not??? I thought about taking this private with Evan, but that's not fair to everyone concerned and that's not the way I do things anyways.

I've been a member on this board pretty much since it's inception and have thoroughly enjoyed it through the years and still do so. I think Evan has created and allowed us to participate in the best forum you will find for Canadian Racing. It's really sad that a few in the past tried to ruin it for the rest of us.

That said, I too share the same concerns that 38Racing brought up. So much so that I considered not posting this message.

Thank you for posting it AutoAssembler. I remember the days we didn't need a COC and never had to warn or ban anyone. OK One and that was Brian that was banned from almost every board around.

I guess with growth you run into these kind of things. I felt we respected each other back then and this past year the site has grown a lot and it seem troubles followed with that growth.

I think we have tried the best to handle what was thrown at me and the new mods that I brought on as I couldn't keep up with all the post.

Yes there will be times we make a call that might not be the right one but the MODS and I are looking out for the best interest of the members and the board.

If you knew what was lost this past year because of went on I'm sure most people would have just took the site down. We lost a major partnership and a sale of the site that would have allowed me to run the site as I run it now but with new owners. The major partnership I'm speaking of is not the OSS deal but one that would have brought money into the site and I would have had a full time job doing what I enjoy and a ton of new feature.

I don't know if these opportunities will ever come up again but I continue to run the site the best I know how.

It seems the site takes one step forward then 3 back and I was hoping that 2007 would be the year but I guess 2008 is going to have to be that year. I hope
