CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK TO HOST TUDOR UNITED SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP AND CONTINENTAL

SPORTSCAR CHALLENGE IN 2015

(BOWMANVILLE, ON – August 12, 2014) Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is thrilled to announce that the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and Continental SportsCar Challenge will return in 2015. The only Canadian stops for both series’ will take place on July 9-12 weekend.

Building on the strengths of its inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship schedule, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) released an enhanced 12-event calendar for the 2015 season. Each of the four TUDOR Championship classes will compete in 10 races.

“We at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park are thrilled to be welcoming back the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Continental SportsCar Challenge,” said Myles Brandt, President and General Manager of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“Sports car racing is a major part of our 54-year history here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and we look forward to continuing that legacy in 2015 with the very best North America has to offer. Our loyal fans and corporate partners can begin making their plans for another memorable weekend next July.”

The season opens with the 53rd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 24-25. The Rolex 24 also kicks off the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, which returns in 2015. It continues with the 63rd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida on March 21, followed by the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on June 28 and the season- ending Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda on Oct. 3.

A notable revision to the 2015 schedule sees the Prototype Challenge class join Prototype and Grand Touring Le Mans at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. PC replaces the GTD class, which competed at the facility this year.

“When we set out to create the inaugural TUDOR Championship schedule we wanted to have a calendar that featured the most iconic endurance races, historic road courses and major market street circuits in North America all on the same schedule,” said IMSA President and COO Scott Atherton. “We have confirmed all of those elements once again on the 2015 schedule. This is a schedule that we are confident will be embraced by the industry and sports car fans worldwide.”

IMSA executives also revealed the 10-race schedule for the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, which begins on Jan. 23 at Daytona International Speedway. Every race will be two-and-a-half hours in length.

All 10 venues on the 2015 Continental Tire Challenge schedule hosted the series in 2014. One notable change sees the series’ visit to Lime Rock Park shift from Memorial Day Weekend in 2014 to July 25 for 2015. Every race will run as a companion to the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

“As we continue to build IMSA and the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, continuity and tradition are extremely valuable,” added IMSA President and COO Scott Atherton.

“In 2015, the Continental Tire Challenge will be part of 10 strong events at this continent’s very best road racing facilities.”
