Flemming Soars to Victory at Air Show Atlantic 100

(Charlottetown, PE - July 31, 2011) – Three-time Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour champion John Flemming (Halifax, NS) ended a four year drought Sunday afternoon at Oyster Bed Speedway by coming away the winner of the Air Show Atlantic 100. Flemming, in the #97 The Roofing Connection Dodge, held off Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown) early in a 67-lap green flag run to the finish of the event and crossed the line first ahead of a hard charging Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell). MacKinnon finished in third ahead of Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS) and rookie Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall).

Flemming, who led the most laps in the feature (65 laps) pocketed $100 from the Linde Group and an extra $300 from King Freight Lines for leading at the halfway mark. Jerome Kehoe (Sydney, NS) gained the most positions of any driver in the field and picked up the Vortex Brake Pads Hard Charger Award. Twenty-six cars started the feature while Randy Millar (Freeland) did not start due to a crash in practice. The race took 32 minutes to complete.

Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) started the day off by winning the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Chisholm set the fast time of 13.515 seconds around the 1/3-mile oval in his #89 Keltic Ford Fusion. Chisholm was relegated to a 26th place finish in the Air Show Atlantic 100 following an incident in the Dash. Smith took home the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash while Chris Hughes (Brackley Beach) and point leader Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) started off the day with wins in Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races.
