PRO STOCK TOUR HEADS TO PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND FOR PIVOTAL LUCAS OIL 100

(Halifax, NS, July 29, 2015) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to Oyster Bed Speedway this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. This is the only stop on Prince Edward Island this season for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The Lucas Oil 100 marks race eight of twelve on the season for the Maritime based stock car racing series. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials at 5:10 PM, racing gets underway at 6:00 PM.

Island driver Kent Vincent (Crapaud), who won the prestigious IWK 250 just two weeks ago, will be awarded with the Tour’s first ever Iron Man Award prior to the Lucas Oil 100 on Saturday. Vincent is the only driver to compete in all Maritime Pro Stock Tour races since its inception in 2001. Saturday’s Lucas Oil 100 will mark race 166 for the series and Vincent’s 166th start. Vincent’s dedication finds him tied for fifth on the all-time win list with six career victories. Vincent also sits near the top of the standings for all-time top-tens, top-fives and podium finishes.

Vincent won’t be the only Islander looking to impress on home turf Saturday; nine Island drivers are expected to be in the field for the Lucas Oil 100. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown) leads the Island contingent in the championship point standings; MacKinnon currently sits fourth but will look to make up ground at his home track. Greg Proude (Springvale), Vincent and Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall) hold positions six, seven and eight respectively in the chase for the championship. Terry Dougay (Albany) finds himself 13th in standing heading home, while Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year contender Joel Hickox (Cornwall) sits 15th.

Other Island drivers expected to compete in Saturday’s Lucas Oil 100 include 2014 Fan Favourite recipient Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell), who currently sits 16th in points. Former tour competitor Allison MacKinnon will also return to the series on his home track.

The Lucas Oil 100 could prove to be a pivotal race in the chase for the championship as the top three teams enter with less than a ten point margin. Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) leads the championship standings with 1370 points. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) has accumulated 1366 points with his three wins this season. Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) climbs to third following the IWK 250 with 1362 points. With only nine markers separating the three the outcome of the Lucas Oil 100 could be instrumental in positioning for the final stretch.

Tickets for the Lucas Oil 100 will be available at the gate on race day (cash only). Adult admission is $25.00, $30.00 for pit entry. Youth tickets (8-15yrs) are $10.00, children 7 and under are free! Complete event information can be found at www.maritimeprostocktour.com
