MACKINNON TAKES HOMETOWN WIN IN LUCAS OIL 100 AT OYSTER BED

(Oyster Bed Bridge, PE, August 1, 2015) – Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) took home his second win on the season tonight in the Lucas Oil 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway; MacKinnon’s first win this season came in the Linde 100 at Petty International Raceway in June. MacKinnon had a back and forth battle with Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) who had to settle for second. Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) rallied from the rear of the field to finish in third. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE), who won this event last season, completed the top five.

Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) won Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a blistering lap of 13.528 seconds. Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) picked up the win in the King Freight Dash for Cash. Joel Hickox (Cornwall, PE) picked up his first career Dartmouth Dodge Heat Race victory along with fellow Islander Jonathan Hicken. DJ Casey (Prospect, NS) took home Exide Batteries rookie of the race award with his 11th place finish.

Prior to the Lucas Oil 100 Prince Edward Island’s Kent Vincent (Crapaud) was presented with the Tour’s first ever Iron Man Award. Vincent has competed in all 166 races since the series inception in 2001. Vincent’s family and crew were on hand for the presentation and received a standing ovation from the capacity crowd.

The Atlantic Tiltload League of Legends took centre stage in the Action Car and Truck Accessories 50 prior to the Lucas Oil 100; Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB), Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) and Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) were the top three finishers.
