JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship Chase Begins Sunday at Winchester Speedway

 

Salem, IN. (August 29, 2018) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will return to action this Sunday on the Famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway, located in Winchester, Indiana. The event will be part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, ICAR Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks, Vores Touring Compacts and Thunder Roadsters. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.

 

The series opened its 2018 season at Birch Run Speedway on April 29th were Michigan veteran Brian Campbell picked up the victory. The series second event was the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on May 18th were Josh Reeves came away with the victory. Bubba Pollard won the series third event of the season, the Masters of the Pro’s 200 on June 8th at Birch Run Speedway. Cole Williams was victorious in the series event on June 16th at Salem Speedway. Campbell returned to victory lane in the series event on June 30th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. 2017 series Rookie of the Year Carson Hocevar got his first series win of the season on August 4th at Auto City Speedway. Campbell picked up his third series win of the season in the series last event on August 11th at Berlin Raceway.

 

The series will begin its Chase for the Championship Sunday in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. 2018 will be the second season the series has used this playoff style format to crown its Champion. The event scheduled for last Saturday at Owosso Speedway was supposed to be the first event of the Chase for the Championship for the series, but that event was cancelled because of weather.  The second event now in the Chase will be at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 30th, with the final Championship event on Friday, October 12th on Winchester 400 Weekend.

 

The drivers earning the right to compete over the next two point events to be in the final four drivers to compete for the series Championship on Winchester 400 weekend include three time 2018 winner Brian Campbell, 2017 series Champion Jack Dossey III, DGR-Crosley Rookie of the Year points leader Mason Keller, Mandy Chick, Michael Clancy Jr., rookie Tyler Hufford, and Trever McCoy. Currently only five of those drivers are entered for Winchester including Dossey III, Keller, Chick, Hufford and McCoy.

 

Other CRA competitors entered for Sunday’s race include former JEGS Tour Winchester winners Jack Smith, Brandon Oakley and Corey Deuser, 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck, former ASA National Tour competitor Robbie Pyle, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Winchester winner Billy Van Meter, 2017 Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stock Champion Colby Lane, 2018 Bristol Motor Speedway second place finisher Jordan Miller, Josh Smith and Rich Segvich.

 

Rick Turner, the all-time starts leader with the ARCA/CRA Super Series, is entered for Sunday’s race in his own #51 car as he seeks to get his JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory. This will be Turner’s second ever start with the series as a driver, his car has raced in other series events with Stephen Nasse behind the wheel.

 

There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the ICAR Modifieds, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Thunder Roadsters and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.

 

Pits open on Monday at 10am. The first of six feature events will start at 1pm with the 20 lap Thunder Roadsters feature, then the 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman feature, then the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series feature, then the 40 lap ICAR Modifieds feature, then the 30 lap Vores Touring Compacts feature, with the 40 lap CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
