WESTBROOK AND PORTER LEAD STYRES RACING INTO THE CHILI BOWL

Ohsweken, Ont. – January 5th, 2018 – With 2017’s celebrations behind them, Styres Racing is getting an early start on the new season at one of the most prestigious events in North America. Dylan Westbrook and Holly Porter are set to compete at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma from January 8th through to the 13th.

The pair will race amongst many other championship caliber drivers at the Chili Bowl, as the event attracts some of the biggest names in the sport. Former winners include NASCAR champions Tony Stewart and Christopher Bell as well as current superstar Kyle Larson.

Both drivers enter 2018 as defending champions at their weekly track in Ohsweken, Ontario Canada. Westbrook claimed 9 wins on his way to winning his first Kool Kidz Ice & Water / Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Car title at Ohsweken Speedway. He was also crowned Southern Ontario Sprints champion for the second straight season with 6 wins and Patriot Sprint Tour Canada champ with 1 victory. A win with the Empire Super Sprints also made him the first driver to win in all three local touring series in the same season. In addition to all of the trophies he collected, Westbrook also became the first driver to score a top five finish in both the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race and Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at his home track.

It was also a memorable year for Porter as she raced her first full season behind the wheel for Styres Racing. Not only did she win a pair of races and the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car championship at Ohsweken, she also made her first starts in a 360 Sprint Car for injured car owner Glenn Styres.

Both Westbrook and Porter are competing at the Chili Bowl Nationals for the third year in a row. “I'm very excited for the Chili Bowl” said Westbrook. “It's an awesome way to start the season with one of the biggest and hardest to win races out there. Although I don’t have much experience racing a midget I feel like we can build on what we accomplished” he added. “We did pretty good to make the A-Main and finish 12th on the preliminary night and then to only miss making the big show by a couple of spots on the final night was unreal. I can’t wait to get back there and try it again.”

Although she has two previous starts at the Chili Bowl, 2018 will be the first time Porter has driven for Styres Racing at the event. “I am really excited to head back to Tulsa” said Porter. “It's not very often we get to race during the winter, and for it to be such a huge event it adds to the anticipation. I’m looking forward to the entire experience of the week and of course to driver for Glenn this year” she added.

Westbrook and Porter may be young and inexperienced compared to the veterans that compete at the Chili Bowl, however they are both eager to learn and improve. “It’s exciting to take two up-and-coming talents to one of the biggest stages in the world” said crew chief Steve Moulton. “They both appreciate the opportunity and work so hard to excel at every event they run.”

A big part of the opportunity for Westbrook and Porter is the Yeley family. Over the past few years they have been the driving force in getting Styres Racing into competition at the Chili Bowl. “We couldn’t do this without Jack Yeley” said Moulton. “He has been the man that makes all this happen for Styres Racing. We are fortunate to have the Yeley family helping us out”.

Preliminary qualifying for the 32nd Annual Chili Bowl Nationals begins on Tuesday, January 9th and the team will be busy from the beginning as Holly Porter will compete in the night one program. Teammate Westbrook will first see his first race action on night three, which takes place on Thursday, January 11th.
