You are absolutely correct there Rio and I don't think you will have many arguments with your statements . I could sling a lot of mud to at most things to its easy. I am sure everyone is happy to hear of their short comings when they have conversations with you . I hope someday you are running the track and it will be done to perfection .

You're right Mark, that came across a little harsh, not trying to throw mud and no I do not want a second job,all common knowledge from drivers meeting, not rumors or speculations.Your post just kind of irked me when you implied that promoting a track via a website, social media or car shows are not important.Since the drivers meeting approximately a month and a half ago there was 2 major car shows in which most tracks in Ontario felt it was relevant to have a booth to promote itself, and some it's drivers, hand out schedules, lure new fans, and to show current fans it still exists and try to obtain sponsors and more importantly advertise their current sponsors. When I want to travel and try a new track, the first thing I do is go to their website to check schedules and rules and I assume spectators do the same to get schedule dates and times. Varney has the opportunity to get non-local cars this year, Facebook is an excellent avenue to get the word out to these people who are outside the Grey/Bruce area. Just trying to get my point across that these things are very important.

I have to agree with Rio on this. Tracks need to be on Facebook & Twitter.

You need to promote anyway you can, as there is so many things kids can do these days. It's not like the old days where you got 5,000 to 10,000 fans to your track  every weekend.

It's going to be hard for tracks to survive in this day and age. So promote anyway you can to get people in the stands and social media is free to use to get your word out.

Operating a business is a key statement here, this is a business and needs to be run as such. The lack of a website, social media page, having an announcer that generates interest for our track on a weekly basis, not bothering to respond to a major race sponsors calls or emails, keeping racers in the dark late into the off season, ending the season taking everyone's $$$ and not even a whisper of a rain date or rain check all of these things can take the happy happy vibe away from a speedway. On a fun factor to watch and race this track is my personal favourite to race at and on a good night near the top of the list to watch. I would race here for free admission but if the track had been operating itself as a business listening to its fans, drivers, marketing partners and sponsor's it may not have come to this. Put the right people in place, spend every waking moment knocking on doors of potential sponsors, go down the driver roster for the last night contact each and every one of the those people and offer them a free pass to any night this year, and focus on the things that filled the stands late models put on a nice show but varneys charm has and will always be the events that made in unique like trains, boats, trailers and good weekly classes. But like old school wrestling don't go to the same well too often over the course of this shorten season. I know a shop full of mini stocks that likes to travel give them a reason!

The story as I've been told is there was 6-7 races run that night and 2 hours of attempt to dry the track making it a completed event as the ticket/track policy states and advertised. The opportunity to run another event did not worked out. Unfortunate circumstances for the many people involved that I can definitely see.

Glad Gord is now running Varney Speedway, he has some creative ways to make it work.  It sure would be nice if every driver at every track in Ontario did a share in promoting their home track, other tracks, and all the sponsors we see every week either on bill-boards at the track or on competitors race cars.

We are the entertainment but we can have a huge impact on the success of a race track by supporting it in every way possible.

Good luck Gord, looking forward to running at Varney a few nights.

Since we have the new owner on here. I would like to congratulate Gord on the purchase.

Was wondering what are some of the changes going to happen. I know things don't happen over night.

What should the race fans expect to see this year at the speedway?

I'm like that the track is going to have Friday Night racing, as this will allow racers go to other tracks and race on Saturday and Sunday.

When is the time frame for the new racing site to be live at fullthrottlemotorspeedway.com

If anyone has any question please ask. I know Gord is busy with everything going on at the track and hope he can answers a few questions.

As of now I only get the keys for the track on Thursday. Full Throttle Motor Speedway will have the pit area being increased by 25% and parking area leveled and expanded. A bunch of fencing is being relocated and replaced and put around the whole track so we can have tailgate parking around turn 3-4 and the backstretch. Roadside appeal with new signs and flags and buildings repainted. asphalt in the bottom groove from the middle of 3-4 to 1/3 of the way down front straightaway. moving/changing adding grandstand seating and installing a bar/patio in the main grandstand building. Not bad for a start to 2014 I think.
