July 2 race and Spring Series recap

I can think of a couple headlines for this weeks newsletter but the one the comes to mind is...
"Hannah Ferrell finishes season with a Bang"

More on that later.

First off, welcome new Tillsonburg Lubricare Beginner, Noah Longthorne(Innerkip) who made his debut last week.
His first time racing and he took home the win. It was not that easy as he lost a wheel in the first race and had a flagman running during the track mud in, but things improved as the night wore on.

The Smale Powder Coat Juniors saw the top three series drivers take the top three this week. Nick Sheridan, Kyle McGlone and Tom Pellizzari went 1,2,3 when the points were tallied for the night.

Oscar McCormack made his presence felt this week by taking 1st overall in the John Costello Senior division. Oscar has missed some races but when he shows up, he can run with the best. Hopefully he will be able to put together the whole Summer Series. Jacob Sheridan earned a hard fought 2nd and Colby Bennett was 3rd. It's a good thing we have transponder scoring because one race was so close that most people didn't know if the transponder was correct or not. Oddly enough there was a tie for fourth and a tie for fifth this week. The racing is that close in this division.

The Expert division this week was all Scott Chesterman who had to rebuild his motor after a burn down at Wonderland. Winning the Time Attack and both races put him in first for the night but when you start up front, that is easier to do. Holly Porter was in her usual good form and took 2nd Overall. The big news is Hannah Ferrell, who made a last lap charge for the finish line but failed to negotiate the final corner without the assistance of the wall. Afterwards she said her throttle stuck but whatever it was, she picked up an extra point which came into play for the night and the series. Hannah was third for the night.

The Spring Series.

As I sit typing this before our first Summer Series race, the Thunder is rumbling in the background and it is raining buckets outside. The parking lot will be wet tonight so best to stay on the gravel if possible. Either way, the races still go.
