Brighton Speedway Oval Ice Races Postponed to February 25th
One week before Brighton Speedway is set to kick off its 50th anniversary season unseasonably mild temperatures have forced Brighton Speedway staff to postpone the 2017 Oval Ice Races presented by Bay Marine. An event that attracts hundreds of competitors and fans to the fully iced 1/3rd mile oval at the end of every January will now take place on February 25th, 2017.
The event is a combination of amateur and professional racers that take to the ice on snowmobiles, four wheel ATV's, side by side ATV's, motor bikes and vintage snowmobiles. Also new for 2017 is a vintage snowmobile show and shine sled show where snowmobile enthusiast can show off their works of art.
"Unfortunately Mother Nature has thrown us a little bump in the road, but we are not ready to throw in the towel yet. Plans are full speed ahead for February 25th" stated Track Promoter Mark Rinaldi. He went on to say "there has been a lot of enthusiasm about the ice races in recent years and our recent partnership with the OSOR racing club has only added to that and we are looking forward to one of our biggest years yet".
Track officials would like to thank all the people that helped try to make ice to this point but unfortunately it was not to be and we will be back in action as soon as the weather turns cold again.
Racing will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 11am; gates will open up at 7am with admission being $15.00 and $5 for Children 12 and under. This year's admission ticket will be an all access passes for fans and competitors alike! Once you are in the gates you can roam around the speedway property and not miss any of the action!
