Maritime League of Legends Primed for Petty Raceway Saturday

(SACKVILLE, NB; July 19th, 2017) - The Maritime League of Legends Tour will head to River Glade, New Brunswick’s Petty International Raceway on Saturday for the third of nine races on the 2017 season. The Cummins 50 presented by Petitcodiac Super Variety will mark the first of two stops on the calendar to the high banked race track and first stop to the province of New Brunswick. The Maritime League of Legends are a part of the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 weekend and post time on July 22nd is 6pm.

Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) was the winner of the Farrell’s Excavating 50 presented by NAPA Auto Parts at Riverside International Speedway on July 14th, besting a field of 31 cars to cross under the checkered flag first. Kannapolis, North Carolina’s Alex Pacheco was second in the event with reigning series champion Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) rounding out the podium at Riverside last weekend.

By virtue of two third place finishes in the first two events of the season, Farrell has taken the Maritime League of Legends Tour championship lead heading into the Cummins 50 presented by Petitcodiac Super Variety. Multiple time Eastern Canadian INEX Masters champion Paul Goulden (Shelburne, NS) sits a slim three points behind Farrell for the championship lead with Atlantic Tiltload 50 winner Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) in third, a single point off Goulden’s total.

“Miss Rawdon Rocket” Emily Meehan finds herself in fourth place overall in the standings, ahead of New Brunswick drivers Darren Sherwood (Cambridge Narrows) and Hall. Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) is tied with Hall for sixth in the standings and heads into a Petty International Raceway track where the former Tour champion won in 2015.

Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake, NS), Tony Gaudet Jr. (Milford Station, NS) and Kody Quinn (Sydney, NS) complete the top ten in the standings after the second race on the Maritime League of Legends Tour for 2017. Quinn leads the Rookie of the Year standings by 23 points over Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS).

Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) drove the #6 Meehan’s Garage and Trucking Legend to victory lane at Petty International Raceway last August over Goulden, MacNeill, Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) and Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS). Butcher is currently leading the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year standings on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.

A total of 20 teams have participated in both Maritime League of Legends Tour events thus far on the series, with an additional 14 teams racing in one of the two races contested in 2017 for the series.

Please note, the Maritime League of Legends Tour and Oyster Bed Speedway officials have not been able to find a suitable makeup date for the Reliable Motors 50 presented by ToyMaster and the race originally scheduled for June 17th will not be made up. The series will make its only Prince Edward Island trip on Saturday, August 5th for the Island Coastal Services 50.

Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s events at Petty International Raceway are $30 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $35 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Pit gates for competitors open at 1:30pm, grandstand gates open for spectators at 4pm with racing getting underway at 6pm.
