Billy Schwartenberg Picks Up A Pair Of Late Model Wins At Flamboro Speedway
By Randy Spencer (Flamboro Speedway PR) - A beautiful night for racing at Bennett Chevrolet Flamboro Speedway and two extra races were on the schedule from the rained out features a few weeks back.
Racing got underway at 6:30 sharp and the Pro Four Modifieds led the way. Linc Erison and Gillian Hils were on the pole and Ersion led lap one. As the cars went down the back stretch on lap four the throttle on the 91 car of Larry Westwood stuck open and and he shut the engine off to help slow it down but by that time he was up on the wall. It was lucky he only rode the wall, looked like it was going to roll but came to a rest on the top of the wall in turn four. Larry was replacing son Mike after he broke his wrist last week and he'll likely be out 6 months. Get well soon Mike! On the restart the 9 of Brian Nanticoke was the new leader. Brother Dan Nanticoke was soon up to second after starting near the back. On lap 12, the 8 of Gillian Hils spun in turn four bringing out a caution. The brothers Nanticoke battled to the end with Brian edging out Dan at the line for the win.

The next race was the rained out feature for the Grisdale Late Models. Chad Corcoran was on the pole with Jeff Ruddy and Corcoran led lap one. Billy Schwartzenberg was third and on lap nine through three and four did a bump and run and was the new leader. Corcoran seemed to have something slowing him and he was back to eighth fairly quick. Hudson Nagy was in the mix and soon was challenging Schwartzenberg along with Shawn Chenoweth. Lap 18 in turn two, Chenoweth got by Nagy. With four laps to go, Nagy went high in two and was third but quickly slid back to eighth. As the cars came to the line, Schwartzenberg held off Chenoweth for the win.
We then got into the regular program and the Pure Stocks led off. Courtney Scott and Wayne Leung were on the pole. On the green, several cars were involved in a mix up as they went into one. Leung was around and the 14 of Elijah Hawrylyshyn and 16 of Mark Thorne received some damage. Both would hit the pits and would not finish. Scott led lap one. She continued to lead and was putting some distance between herself and the rest of the pack. On lap eleven heading down the back stretch the 43 of Kevin Heist and 90 of Andy Wheller got involved and Wheeler was around and into the turn two wall. Wheller got out of the car and voiced his displeasure with Heist as he drove by. As Wheller left the scene he drove toward Heist then again as Wheller was heading for the pits he ran at Heist again and that got Wheller disqualified for the night. On the restart, Scott and Wayde Thorne were battling side by side for a couple laps. Scott was able to regain the lead and held off the pack and picked up her first feature win. Congratulations Courtney!!
Flamboro Speedway Pure Stock June 3, 2017
1st feature of the Pure Stock
The Klotz Auto Repair and Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks were next and last weeks feature winners were on the pole. Jake Gilbert and Jake Watson led the field to green. Gilbert led lap one but Watson soon was the new leader and led the rest of the way picking up his second feature win in as many weeks.
The Ray’s Auto Centre & Towing Super Stocks were next and Carson Nagy and Nick Troback were on the pole. Nagy led lap one. Troback tagged the wall and was taken off on the hook. Nagy led on the restart but Brandon McFerran took over the lead heading down the back stretch heading into three on lap seven. McFerran would hold off the field and picked up the win.
Flamboro Speedway Superstocks June 3, 2017
1st feature of the Superstocks
The Grisdale Late Models were next and seventeen cars took the green with Mark Burbridge and Blair Wickett on the pole. Burbridge would lead for several laps but Shawn Chenoweth was gaining and was soon on his bumper. On lap eleven as the cars were heading down the back stretch Chenoweth got by Burbridge for the lead and would hold off the pack and picked up the win.
The Pro Four Modifieds hit the track for their first regular feature of the night with Dan Nanticoke and Linc Erison on the pole. Nanticoke led lap one and quickly built a huge lead and it was a full straight away at one point and almost started to lap the filed as he took the checkers.
After a brief intermission, the Pure Stocks hit the track with Paul Ditner and Ross Winters Jr. out front. Ditner lead lap one. Heading out of four on the first lap Eric Crow and Winters made contact but both would continue. Crow was the leader and was having a good race. He led most of the way but the 23 of Doug Moir was on his tail. On lap 16 as the cars went through one and two, Moir made his move and was the new leader. Moir led the rest of the way and picked up his first feature win. Nice to see Eric Crow have a good run, he'll be in victory lane before long. Congratulations Doug on the win!!
Seventeen Mini Stocks took the green for their second feature led by David Gallinger and Matt Young. Gallinger led early but Russ Aicken would get past Galllinger to take the lead. Aicken would take the checkers followed by Jake Gilbert and Shawn Taylor.
Flamboro Speedway Mini Stock June 3, 2017
2nd feature for the Mini Stock
The Super Stocks were next and would provide one of the most exciting races of the night. Brandon Robertson and Chris Howse were on the pole. Howse led lap one. Shawn Arnott and Brandon McFerran battled hard. McFerran got past Arnott on lap six and soon was on Howse's bumper. Howse did all he could to hold off McFerran and the two made it very exciting. The two traded paint and bumped and banged through out but at the checkers it was Howse winning a close one over McFerran and Arnott.
The Late Models hit the track and were led to green by Chad Corcoran and Michael Gold. Corcroan led lap one. Matt Box and Brent Wheller got mixed up in turn four on lap 14 bringing out a caution. Another caution two laps later as Hudson Nagy tagged the wall in four causing significant damage to his front right wheel and he was taken off on the hook. On the restart, Corcoran and Kevin Albers would battle back and forth for several laps trading the lead a few times. Billy Schwartzenberg moved up to second and was battling Albers. Schwartzeberg would take the lead followed by Shawn Chenoweth with a few laps to go. At the checkers, it was Schwartzenberg picking up his second feature win of the night.
Flamboro Speedway Pro Late Models June 3, 2017

The final race of the night was for the Pro Four Modifieds. Gillian Hils and Aaron Turkey led the field to green. Hils led lap one. Ashton Reekie in the 93 took the lead on lap two in turn two. He would hold the lead until lap ten wen Mark Lucas got by. It was short lived as Dan Nanticoke zoomed past in three-four two laps later to take the lead and hold on to pick up the win.
