Shane Pecore winner of round #1 of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, May 15, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – The Cornwall Motor Speedway presented its first program of the season as Bank of Montreal presented the first race of the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series along with a full program in our other divisions.

Tyler Givogue et Shane Pecore, were on the first lane at the start of the 100-lap Race for Cure Sportsman Series race as Pecore was quickly in front over Givogue and Felix Murray on third spot. Pecore hitted slower traffic by lap 11 as he had a great lead over the rest of the field. As we hit lap 25, Pecore was leading over Givogue, Brianna Ladouceur, Mathieu Bardier and Justin Lalancette. Lap traffic was playing a great role as Justin Lalancette made his way from fifth to second in 6 laps. At halfway point, action was still hot on the speedway as Pecore had sizeable lead over Lalancette, Givogue, Ladouceur and Bardier. Unfortunately, he slowed down on the following lap bringing the first caution on lap 51.

The race resumed on lap 59 as Pecore was still the leader with Justin Lalancette using the top lane and battled Pecore for the lead as Scott Morris brought caution on lap 62. Pecore was able to build a great lead over the field as he had great restarts at each time with Thomas Cook that was now in the top 5 but lost control of his car and lost his position on lap 88. Pecore led the final laps in front of Lalancette and Martin Pelletier who completes the podium.

Carey Terrance takes the early lead in the 30-lap feature in the Bandit Motorsports Modified with Mario Clair and Brian McDonald. The first 9 laps were run really fast with Marc Therrien stepping out the track and the yellow flag is out. Terrance doesn’t waste time and the feature is ran really quickly with Terrance winning with a good lead over Clair and McDonald. Terrance won his first feature of the season running for his 4th title.

Ghislain Valade leads the way in the 20-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock with Rock Aubin being fast in the middle lane and passing Valade on the third lap. Terry Ladouceur stops in the backstretch on lap 6. On the restart, Aubin still in the lead with CD Beauchamp making some noise and joined the lead pack and get side by side with Aubin with 8 laps to go. Beauchamp takes the lead and yellow is out on lap 14. Aubin led the final portion and resisted to a late charge from Renaud and Valade.

Marc Dagenais takes the lead in the in the Polar Sound DJ Services with Bob Ray following him, Dagenais led all laps to win his first feature over Ray and Skylar Ladouceur.

Junior Delormier was dominant in the first event of the Polar Sound DJ Services as he led the 15 laps and won over Chris Zieran and Pascal Racette.

A great event next week as the first round of the Bandit Motorsport Canadian Nationals Modified Series will be run with a 125-lap event plus a complete race program in other divisions.
