PACE CAR ON ICE
STONY PLAIN, AB (January 17) – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series pace car was on duty Sunday afternoon as the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club kicked off its 2010 ice race season.  This mid-January race was Alberta’s first motorsports event of the year.  Five classes of race cars went fender to fender on Roy’s Lake southwest of Stony Plain, Alberta. 


The fastest class to hit the track was the ‘studded-tire’ class with speeds of well over 150kph.  The NPP Late Model Series congratulates all NASCC teams on their successful season opening race.  The Northern Alberta Sports Car Club is celebrating its’ 53rd anniversary in 2010, making it one of the oldest motorsports organizations in the province. 

 

The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series celebrates its 10th season of racing this year.  January 12th was the halfway point of the ‘off-season’.  The 2010 NPP season opener is May 8th at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway.

 

 

Northern Provincial Pipelines Ltd., based in Edson, Alberta, is title sponsor of the NPP Late Model Series which brings big league racing to Western Canadian race fans.  Northern Provincial Pipelines is also proud to be one of the major sponsors of the #81 Dodge in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.  The 2010 Nationwide Season begins February 13th at Daytona International Raceway in Florida.
