Went over to check on the track since the snow melted and look what we found a new wall...should make the fast 1/4 mile even faster in 2010!

For all the pics go the Varney Motor Speedway facebook group site.

Are they paving and banking the new area all the way out to the wall on the back stretch?  Or is some of that going to be runnoff like it used to be?

May even take a run down to Varney this year to race, never raced it in 10 years.

Hey Doug
How come Varney isnt part of this Super street stock touring series??Whats up with that???Peterboro is one of the stops, and they dont even have Thunders/Super stocks, unless they return this year!

its too small for a 26 car thunder invi field....its barely big enough for 20 4 cyls.

I don't know about that Thayne. Back in the day at Sunset when it was a 1/4 mile they fit plenty of cars on the track and had good racing with not near the banking. If 26 is a problem whittle them down with heats for a more managable feature. Even I am not old enough to remember this but I hear Delaware was pretty good when it was 1/4 mile also.

I took my 4 cyl there (varney) 3 times...two ofthem were bad..one of those two almost lost my car...I will never take my TC there unless it is made a little wider...

I am telling you, that many cars..some are coming home in a box....

once a troll, always a troll, eh larry?

I'm giving my opinion...I had the option to go a few times last year and didnt...went to Sunset instead...

Don't know what you meant by richard petty, but thanks? Guess I will take it as a compliment...

At Pete fall colours last year, they needed several boxes to bring home all the thunders that wrecked just on the first lap alone (maybe yours too Thayne i recall?, can't quite remember). i bet the fear of that happening won't keep people away 'cause racing that event is just plain fun stuff. i only raced Varney once and it sure is tight, but way fun. lots of good folks there too. i plan to go back this year if i can make it work. (also cost alot to race there too, near $60 if i recall, that's not so fun)
if i had a thunder and 25 others out there...hmmm, that would give you pause....

I love Varney, awesome fans who are so into the show it is one of a kind!

My car did get wrecked bad at pete...and if it were up to me we will be going back this year, but i thinkt he old man has already put the kybosh on that...its a lot more expensive to fix these cars than fix the 4 cyl...ahha.

i ran 2 years at varney in challengers and cant remember anyone in any of those years taking their car home in a basket and we started 22 in a regular feature 24 for specials...the diff might have been the flagman mark dixon was good and any crap you got the black flag no questions...if you dumped someone you were done for the nite... in minis you have a total mix of drivers with diffrent experience, so u have to expect the un-expected there for sure...in minis i've been wrecked twice on opening nite by a rookie...both times they over corrected..in stead of heading for a nice soft piece of grass infiled they both decided it would be better to comeback across the track and into the wall...lol...its racing, it happens...the intentional stuff is what should piss u off...i cant wait to see the track finished and its too bad they arent in the series...and i gotta see sunset this year too...
