Put it this way: Last time there were train races, the fronstretch pit road was just a fantasy. So the trains had to do one lap of the whole track, then a short lap coming in the backchute pit entrance and out the front. Then another full lap etc. (they'd have the turn 3-4 end of the pits well cleared out before they started)

No little sewing machine motored cars either. Nothing but old Montes, LTDs, and big old station wagons. Pretty nuts, but fun. They didn't pick up a crazy amount of speed because only the first car was even permitted to contain an engine...and towing 2 other great big cars.

Once they built up a head of steam though...look out.

I'm ecstatic that we're doing these again. We invented that ball but Varney was the one that ran with it. Hope it works out.

109 donates itself for the middle car. It's so light, we just need power, and a final car. How can you not want to do this??!!

I remember watching these races as well!! The large lap then small lap made for some interesting connections and near misses, at the intersection of what was once the exit of the pits. especially when the faster teams started gaining on the slower teams.. very fun for the whole family to watch for sure!! like mentioned above wait till you see one of the tow cars on thier roof!! especially if its the tail car with the breaks lol

Man i miss the 80's at Delaware!!

Glad to see the track willing to mix it up again!!

Hmmm do you think???  But to save the day Sharpe could black flag the field?

Sounds like fun and I do hope they have one huge magnet to save all of the lm tires on sunday...

Who has the tire concession as this may be an event they would sponsor?
