Joel Doiron Displays 2012 Paint Scheme This Week at Racing Against Drugs Event at Cornwall Armouries; First Race of 2012 Coming up Next Month

The start of the 2012 racing season is just over a month away, and Joel Doiron and his Alexandria, Ontario DIRTcar 358 Modified racing team are looking forward to getting the season underway. Doiron will have shown off his new colors this week at the Racing Against Drugs event at the Cornwall Armouries this week. The car is on display now through April 19th.

This is the 14th edition of the popular Racing Against Drugs Program. Over 1100 Grade 6 students from Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, including the City of Cornwall will take part in this interactive setting and will receive a variety of drug awareness related messages. In total, there are 12 Pit Stops in which the students are separated into groups. Each group will take in every pit stop (which has a different message) until they have completed the entire rotation. The 12th stop consists of a slot racetrack where the schools attending compete against each other. There are 2 sessions per day for 4 days. Doiron will be with the Ontario Provincial Police ‘Pit Stop’, and will have his racecar on display.

“I really enjoy taking part in this event”, claims Doiron. “It is a great opportunity to showcase our sport, and also teaches kids about making the right choices in life. There will be a lot of kids coming through here this week, and I am looking forward to showing them what our sport is all about”.

Joel Doiron will get the 2012 racing season underway in just over a month as Cornwall Motor Speedway is set to open on Sunday, May 20th. This will be the first race in the Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series. The 100 lap race will also be the first of three races in the Canadian Nationals Series.
