Putting a Plan Into Action:  Linc Brown Signs Kawartha Metals to Back 2012 Late Model Program at Kawartha Speedway

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications

Just over 6 months ago, Linc Brown issued a press release that indicated he was considering a return to the weekly wars at Kawartha Speedway.  The 46 year-old Colborne, Ontario racer – who finished 2nd in points during the 2007 season and 7th in the final 2008 tally – had been on a sabbatical from the track’s headline division, but a true racer knows that a passion for the sport never completely leaves your system.

“My kids race with the Kawartha-Durham Kart Club, so I was at the track watching them,” said Brown.  “I’d also go to Kawartha most Friday nights to watch the show and just being in that environment got me itching to get back behind the wheel.  The car was in the garage and I’d been working on it for a couple of years...doing some research, making changes and mounting a new body.  Mike at McColl Racing Enterprises has been a big help and I knew it wouldn’t take too much time to get it race ready. To be able to run competitively again, I needed to have some sponsorship help and I’m happy to have Kawartha Metals come on board.”

Brown says Tom Elliott at Kawartha Metals had been involved with his program in the past and was very interested in supporting the #99 Dodge again in 2012.  In addition to Kawartha Metals, Linc Brown’s Dodge Charger will also have backing from The Wolf 101.5 Radio in Peterborough, Don Butt Auto Body, Mayhew Graphics and Clarke Motorsports Communications.  To complete their package for the upcoming season, Linc Brown Motorsports is looking to sign associate and product sponsors.

“I’ve been shopping our sponsorship package for a few months now and we’ve had some nibbles,” said Brown.  “The radio advertising package we have with The Wolf is tremendous exposure for the team, but also benefits any of the advertisers we have on the car and promotes their involvement with the team.  It takes quite a bit of time to follow-up on all the possible leads, but I’m sure we’ll be ready once the green flag flies.”

About Kawartha Metals:  Known as the ‘Candy Store for Welders’, Kawartha Metals – at 587 Harper Road in Peterborough – stocks over 6000 different grades and sizes of metal and plastics.  See their web-site www.kawarthametals.com to learn more.

Quick Linc-in’:  A married father of 2, Linc Brown has been involved with racing from a very early age.  While still too young to even think about driving anything, Brown was already a fixture at tracks like Cayuga, Flamboro and Speedway Park where his mother wrote race reports and co-ordinated weekly advertising for Wheelspin News.

Clarke Motorsports Communications:  With more than 20 years media and public relations experience, Jim Clarke has provided effective promotional materials to pavement and dirt track racers in Southern and Central Ontario.
