Muscle Milk HPD Wins The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix
The pole setting Muscle Milk Acura HPD LMP1, piloted by Germany’s Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr won the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix for the fourth consecutive year.
Toronto’s Tony Burgess and co-driver Chris McMurray finished second in the LMP1 class and fifth overall.
At race’s end, the GT battles stole the show. The #4 Corvette Racing duo of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner edged the SRT Motorsports Viper of Dominik Farnbacher and Marc Goosens by a mere 0.267 seconds.
In LMP2 action, Level 5’s Marino Franchitti and Scott Tucker took the win in their HPD ARX-03b over Extreme Speed Motorsports Ed Brown and Johannes van Overbeek.
CORE Autosport’s Jonathan Bennett and Colin Braun were victorious in Prototype Challenge. Barrie native Kyle Marcelli finished third in class. Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen won in GT Challenge.
Taking the Michelin Green X Challenge awards, given to the team that goes the farthest and fastest with the least environmental impact were the pairing of Graf/Luhr in LMP1 and Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in GT.
In the U.S. based IMSA GT3 Cup, Angel Benitez Jr. won the 33-lap race over Sloan Urry by 3.469.
The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada held it’s second of two races this weekend. JF Laberge won in Platinum Cup and Carlos de Quesada was the winner in Gold Cup for the second day.
The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites also held the second leg of their weekend doubleheader. Georgia resident Sean Rayhall took the checkered flag in Lites One for the second consecutive day.
The SCCA Pro Racing Playboy MX-5 Cup held its Sunday race to close out the weekend with Elliott Skeer winning by a scant .088 seconds over Christian Szymczak.
In Pro Mazda action, Shelby Blackstock took the checkered flag by two seconds over Scott Anderson.
