GUSTAVO YACAMAN TAKES POLE FOR MOBIL 1 SPORTSCAR GRAND PRIX PRESENTED BY HAWK PERFORMANCE


(BOWMANVILLE, ON – July 12, 2014) Oak Racing driver Gustavo Yacaman of Columbia won the pole for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance. He set the pace with a best lap time of 1:09.167. Yacaman will co-pilot the Nissan Morgan Prototype with France’s Olivier Pla. Burnaby, BC native Michael Valiante will start third in the Prototype class.

SRT Motorsports driver Kuno Wittmer of Montreal won the pole in the highly competitive GTLM class, setting a track record in the process with a fast lap of 1:15.206. The Canadian racer is joined by American Jonathan Bomarito in the #93 Viper GTS-R.

In Saturday’s feature race, the Continental SportsCar Challenge, Andy Lally and co-driver Matt Bell were victorious in the Grand Sport class. Toronto’s Scott Maxwell was third. In Street Tuner action, Burnaby, BC racer Remo Ruscitti finished atop the podium.

Races were also held as the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama, Cooper Prototype Lites, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the SCCA Pro Racing Mazda MX-5 Cup were all were in action.

In the U.S. based IMSA GT3 Cup, Jesse Lazare of Montreal won the 31-lap race, 0.173 over Colin Thompson.

The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites also held their first of two weekend races. British Columbia native Remo Ruscitti finished seconds ahead of Robert Alon.

Sunday's schedule begins two races in the morning beginning at 9 am. The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites and Lamborghini Super Trofeo hold their second races of the weekend. The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race gets underway at 2:06 pm ET.
