Auto Clearing Motor Speedway
Results for Saturday, August 30, 2014

It was a wild night Saturday at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway as drivers
and crews for the Dakota Dunes Western Canada Super Late Model
Championship Series, FFUN Motor Group Pro Trucks and the Kreepy Kritterz
Pest Control Mini Stocks all worked hard and raced hard as they tried to
better their championship standings in the second last race meet of the
year for each division.

Coming into the night Jim Gaunt’s #55 Sky Financial Mortgage Centre
machine had a three point lead over Ryan Well’s #5 Performance Plus
Chevrolet.  Going home, they are tied in first, leading to a battle
nobody will want to miss September 20 as the Dakota Dunes Series
Champion will be decided.

In the Kreepy Kritterz Pest Control Mini Stock Division, Brennan Kirton
gained one point on Robin Boomsma, but Boomsma will still bring the #95
Five Star Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Neon into the final on
September 20 with a 29 point lead in the points.

In the FFUN Motor Group Pro Trucks, Aaron Deagnon built himself a bit of
a cushion in the points lead, going from five to fifteen through the
night.  Not insurmountable, but it won’t be easy for Dyck to claim a
championship that has alluded him over the years.

Rain overnight washed down and cooled the track, so we didn’t see any
spectacular times.  Times were quick, but nothing in the record setting
category.  Jim Gaunt once again timed in fastest at 14.120 seconds in
the #55 Sky Financial Mortgage Centre Impala SS, .004 quicker than the
#5 of Ryan Wells.

Jim Gaunt and Ryan Wells both also won their respective heats, putting
them on the front row for the Dakota Dunes Series Interstate Batteries
150.  Both took the challenge to move to the back row for a chance at
the extra $500.00 to win and the dice roll came up with a four row
inversion.  That put the #22 of Doug Bienia in the pole position, with
the #97 of Jared Reddekopp outside of him.

The Interstate Batteries 150 got off to a great start with the 97 and 22
side by side through the first lap.  Reddekopp led the first lap in the
#97, but Bienia pulled the #22 ahead to lead the next six laps.
Reddekopp continued the challenge as the two inched back and forth for
the next several laps before Reddekopp finally moved ahead in lap 13.
The lead was short lived though as Jason Gervais set his sights on the
top spot, moving into the lead in lap 17.

First caution flew in lap 35 which saw #62 Kenny Heintz and #51 Nick
Jewel into their pits for work and Jamie McLennon in the #33 to the
back.  Caution flew again on the restart as the #2 of Ryan Funk and #22
of Doug Bienia got together,

Dave Bone ended up the benefactor of the double caution, pulling the #38
Proline Impala SS into the lead, but only for six laps.  Caution was out
again in lap 109 as the #2 once again came down on the #22, sending Funk
to the back in the #2.

Ryan Wells took advantage this time a pulled the #5 Performance Plus
Chevrolet into the lead on the green flag.  It was a lead that was never
really challenged for the rest of the race.

The next caution flew at the half way point in lap 75 as Kenny Heintz
and Doug Bienia hooked up on the front straight, sending them both
flying into the grass and the inside wall.  While Bienia’s #22 Custom
Foundations Ford Taurus sustained heavy front end damage, Kenny’s brand
new #62 Amsoil Impala SS was practically destroyed, with heavy front end
and back end drive and suspension damage.

The red flag while the mess was cleaned up must have gave the remaining
drivers some time to reflect and settle down as we saw only one more
caution in the rest of the race, when the #2 of Ryan Funk spun out in
lap 145, leading to a five lap charge to the finish.

There was some head scratching as coming to the green reline the #33 of
Jamie McLennon chose to follow #5 of Wells on the inside row, leaving
the outside pole position open for Jim Gaunt to snap up for the green flag.

Jim didn’t have enough though as the #5 Performance Plus Chevrolet of
Ryan Wells went on to win the race, along with the $1,000 top prize and
$500 challenge bonus.  Jim Gaunt was second in the #55 Sky Financial
Mortgage Centre Impala and Jamie McLennon brought the #33 home in third.

In the Kreepy Kritterz Pest Control Mini Stocks, Brennon Kirton picked
up a pair of wins in the heat and qualifier with the #92 Denny’s Family
Restaurant Honda Prelude, and was poised to take the feature as well.
Robin Boomsma had different plans though and got by Kirton with six laps
remaining, to pick up his fifth feature flag of the season in the #95
Five Star Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Dodge Neon.  #41 of
Jamie Tataryn was third.

The FFUN Motor Group Pro Trucks showed why they have fast become a
favorite to watch at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.  Five races, five
different winners.

Aaron Deagnon took the first heat race in the #12 Great Canadian Oil
Change Dodge Ram, while Luc Haukaas took the second heat in the #51
Prairie Ram Dealers Dodge Ram.

Kevin Dyck was first to the line in the first qualifier, with the #10
Fast Cat Service Chevy Silverado.  Ken Ross took the second qualifier in
his #67 Grace Beyer Remax Silverado.

In the FFUN Motor Group Pro Truck Feature, Alex Leschenko picked up his
second Auto Clearing Motor Speedway commemorative flag, getting to the
line first in the #01 Family Pizza Ford F150.  #7 Darnell Schick was
second in the NexGen Mechanical Toyota Tundra and the #12 of Aaron
Deagnon was third.

The season is rapidly winding down as we descend into September and our
final four weekends of racing.  Next week is the always anticipated
Martensville A&W Street Stock Invitational, as street stocks from across
Saskatchewan and Alberta vie for thousands of dollars in prize money,
all put on by the merchants of Martensville.

Along with the street stocks, the Mid West Combustion Sportsman, Earth
Works Sask Legends and the Bandoleros will all being jockeying for
position in their second last race meets of the season.

Action goes all day Saturday September 7, with a meet and greet
breakfast with the drivers at the A&W in Martensville at 9:00 a.m.  From
11am to 3pm there is a show and shine car meet in Martensville.
Attention then moves to the track, with the front gates open at the Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway at 5:00pm and the first green flag at 6:05.
Next Saturday is also the last evening race of the season.
