Why in the world are they running "time trials" at Sunset, it's so boring, fans like to see them race for positions in Heats Huh

Is that confirmed, that is happening on a weekly basis? Dilly avoided that question.

I agree time trials are like watching paint dry, especially the one car at a time 2 laps. Maybe it will be open practice style transponder times? Or maybe they want to boost hotdog sales?

What happens to the cars that don't make the feature on time? They get sent home without any racing, or does this mean there is a "b" feature? What happens if someone in the running for the championship has a bad 2 laps through no fault of their own, say a tire goes down or the car develops a miss. Are their championship hopes over? Or are there going to be provisional starting positions for everyone in the points making the time qualifying futile? Is there an impound rule with qualifying for tires and setup?

No

Double feature = A and B features as already mentioned... With the question of how does that work for points...

Also how do the time trails work?

For some 100 lapper you can start cars in the order that they qualify, but for a 20-30 lap Saturday night shootout if you start your fast cars upfront where they qualify they will simply run away from it and it will be a snoozer of a race. Only other option is a draw qualifying times for starting positions, which makes qualifying completely irrelevant and a waste of time.

NASCAR Whelen Late Model Race & Points Format 2015

All cars will Time Trails, 2 laps for starting position in first 35.

26 cars will Qualify thru time

2 highest unqualified NASCAR Whelen points cars will have an option for a provisional starting spot, positions 27 and 28 (opening night unqualified cars will draw for positions 27 and 28).

28 cars will start 35 lappers.

First 35 will start straight up fastest car on pole and so on down the line.

Second 35 will start as a 14 car inversion of the Finish of the first 35 , 14th on pole and 1st will start 15th , 15 to 28 will start in spot finished in first 35.

Any qualified driver in the first 35 occurring mechanical problems may borrow a car for the second 35 provided that car has made an attempt to
qualified by another NASCAR registered driver, if driver cannot obtain a car for the second 35 then the first non qualified car by time trail will fill
the empty position, if driver obtains a car already qualified for the race then the first non qualified car will fill the empty position of the borrowed
car, all cars will start scratch.

NASCAR Whelen points will be the best 18 nights’s completed, Sunset points will be calculated over all completed race nights on the same points
system as 2014, and it is possible to have a track champion and a different NASCAR Whelen champion.

Interesting...

Now with 28 car starting the feature, the second or "b" feature should be a real snoozer with what 5 cars or less...

Fastest on the pole for 35 laps in the fields that we have around here will be a real sleeper. Who wants to see one of three guys start upfront and lead the whole thing every week? You need a dead even field to make that work, and lets be honest, that isn't what we have...

You should have stopped here.  I can't believe that you can still find stuff to complain about.  Its a full freaken field.
You'd be happier to watch 10 cars run 2 5 car heats and then a 10 car feature as long as the Slow cars are to the front??

You are an idiot.

Who cares about the "b" feature...if it does indeed have 5 cars in it, it'll have the same # as the Main LM Features at Flamboro last year.  The fact that they may indeed have one is a good thing, it means solid car count.

Bitch bitch bitch.

You are an idiot.

I know you think you are a rocket scientist, but its a full field regardless of how they start them. Duh.

Not being able the understand the topic here makes you the definition of an idiot.

More than likely you look like an idiot, so in your case its best not to speak and remove all doubt. Wink

Is having a first 35 lap feature and a second 35 lap feature the same as having a A and B feature?

Excuse me Iam not an Idiot & I probably know more about how racing "should" be than you.
Fast cars should start at the back / according to their POINTS and race to get the win NOT start at Front and lead it all, makes for real boring races & doesn't show real driving talents !

You are very confused on the double feature thing,I would think there would be double features and a B feature for non qualified driver's. A B feature for non qualified drivers is not double features, and Nascar329 no one called u an idiot! Please read thread again, wait let me read again maybe I'm confused.

Per above...

First 35 will start straight up fastest car on pole and so on down the line.

Second 35 will start as a 14 car inversion of the Finish of the first 35 , 14th on pole and 1st will start 15th , 15 to 28 will start in spot finished in first 35.

Which means they are sending the cars home who are outside of the 28 starting cars after qualifying? Will suck to be some people..
