KENNING TON MOVING UP IN THE STANDINGS

August 2, 2015.  DJ Kennington piloting the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge during round number eight of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series gained five positions during the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres this past Sunday.  With that Kennington also jumps up one spot in the overall championship standings.

During the first practice session on Saturday Kennington was not happy with the handling of the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge.  “It was too tight and wouldn’t turn the way I needed it to,” explained Kennington.

The team made adjustments prior to qualifying but it actually made the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge even more difficult to control and Kennington brushed the wall.  “I just went into the corner and it wouldn’t turn, I wasn’t even going very hard since it was the first lap” stated the driver.

The damage from the hit wasn’t significant but it meant Kennington would begin the 50-lap feature race in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge on the fame road course in 12th spot.  “Our plan was to go hard and maybe get a couple of spots early and see how the race played out”

With help of two early caution periods Kennington accomplished the goal and moved into the top ten.  Much of the middle portion ran caution free and Kennington continued to push the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge forward.  When the checkered flag feel he’d gained a total of five spots and enough championship points to move up in the standings.

“From where we started this is a pretty good result,” said the driver.  “This whole Castrol Edge Dodge team dug in again and kept getting the car better and we gained a bit in the championship.  We’ll have some more updates before Riverside and we’ll be looking for a win there” he added.

With his seventh place result DJ Kennington moves up to fifth in the overall championship standings.
