Szoke Edges Welsh In Exciting Superbike Finale
Brantford native Jordan Szoke capped off his championship season with an impressive win after a back-and-forth battle with Alex Welsh of Uxbridge and Kenny Reidmann of Belfountain, ON.
With victory in the 20-lap season finale, the 36-year-old completed a perfect season of seven wins from seven races aboard his BMW Motorrad BMW S1000RR. Szoke is the only rider to sweep all races in a Canadian Superbike Championship season in its 35-year history. He also managed the feat in 2010.
“It’s one thing to win a race; it’s another thing to win a perfect season,” said Szoke after his 12th career victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and 52nd overall in Canadian Superbike competition.
“What an amazing feat for the whole team. Most of the races this year have been wicked just like this one. I’m looking forward to repeating this next year.”
Reidmann was victorious in the Hindle Exhaust Pro Sport Bike race aboard his Triumph 675. The 20-year-old also secured the championship in the process, his second consecutive. Collingwood’s Ben Young finished just 0.066 seconds off the pace while Will Hornblower of Sarnia was third.
