Erik Jones Wins Chevrolet Silverado 250
Erik Jones thrilled the huge crowd on hand at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, winning the third annual Chevrolet Silverado 250, his sixth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory. The #4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota driver took the win by a mere 1.656 seconds over defending champion Matt Crafton.
The duo was followed to the line by Ben Kennedy. Cameron Hayley of Calgary, AB was the top finishing Canadian who brought home the #13 Cabinets by Haley Toyota in seventh place.
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series returned for their second race of the season on Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s historic road course. Jason Hathaway won his first career road course race by claiming the Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 by 0.310 seconds over L.P. Dumoulin. Jeff Lapcevich finished third to complete the podium.
Sunday's racing action also saw the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin complete their weekend doubleheader. Scott Hargrove took the win in Platinum Cup over Daniel Morad. Michael De Quesada was first in Gold Cup with class champion Orey Fidani finishing in second.
In the weekend finale for the Canadian Touring Car Championship, Tom Kwok was the winner in Super Touring, Alex Tagliani in Grand Touring and Marlin Langeveldt in Touring.
