Shone Evans Wins Exciting Enduro 200 At Flamboro Speedway

By Randy Spencer - The 2015 Racing Season at Bennett Chevrolet Flamboro Speedway came to and end November 1st with the Enduro 200. A 200 lap enduro race with $4000 to the winner and a total of $8150 to be divided among the top 24 finishers. A demo derby would follow with $500 to the winner.

Seventy drivers signed up and were on hand for the event. A nice sunny but windy day greeted the drivers and fans out for one more race. Many familiar faces were on hand, many Flamboro regulars as well as racers from other local tracks. The Iron Man Gary Elliott was out as well as Glenn Styres, owner over at Ohsweken Speedway, was on hand and dominated early. Rodney Rutherford and Jason Tolton also dominated and both led for long periods. Jamie Cox who won the past two enduros was on hand looking for a three-peat but it wasn't meant to be and he retired early on. Many red flags as cars were damaged and in a driving lane or drivers door was exposed. Just one roll over and that driver was ok. As the race continued on Jason Tolton was extending his lead and looked all but sure of the win. However his car seemed to slow or the 077 car of Shone Evans found its second wind and he was gaining fast as the laps were winding down. On lap 199, Evans was ready to make his move. He was gaining quickly and heading into turn three on the final circuit, Evans got by Tolton as they came through turn four heading for the checkers and picked up the victory and the big payday that went along with it.

About eleven cars signed in for the demo derby and the last car standing was the #1 of Tyler Martin. That brought an official end to the 2015 racing season. Once again thank to all the racers and fans who made it another memorable year.

A reminder tickets for the 55th Annual Flamboro Speedway and Flamboro Stadium & Speedway Hall of Fame banquet are available by calling John Casale at 905-689-6052. It will be held Saturday, January 30th at the Waterdown Legion. Please check our website for details, www.flamborospeedway.ca
