That had to be one of the most exciting championship climaxes in the history of F1.
What a race! Massa gained allot of well deserved respect yesterday in the F1 world, and has proven himself to be gracious in victory and defeat. Thayne Thayne Thayne Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  I know you will disagree with me, and that is fine, but lately, I personally fail to see what Nascar has to offer, that F1 does not. Nascar only wishes that it could have the support that F1 has. lol  Grin

I agree with Thayne on this one, The problem with F-1 is 99% of the time whoever is on the poll wins. And big Bernie thinks his s**t doesn't stink.

The FIA have made some BONEHEAD political calls in the last couple of years without a doubt. But F1 has been coming back into it's own in the last couple of seasons creating some truly fabulous races. I do think F1 is an aquired taste for sure, but Nascar must be too. I haven't been able to sit through one of their five hour borefests in its entirety yet! The last 75 laps is where it is at in Nascar.

I L0VE the truck racing to be honest it is always a thrilling finish...sprint cup is heading where F1 is and.....man it makes me shiver...Back in the day Pettey would win by laps, and that is prolly the reason i dont watch the back in the day shows...

as a car tech that side of f1 amazes me. 19000rpm out of a 6 banger 3.0L. as most can attest to a lot of races are won weeks in advance at the shop, if one remembers that f1 is not quite so boring. ps like thayne i find the trucks one of the best to watch, also was getting hooked on alms the drive by mcnish(sic) at petite le mans was a thing of beauty. jmnsho.

Very true, and following F1 news and development between races is probably the key to fully appreciating it. 19g rpm is truly amazing and the engine technology aspect is a huge incentive to factory teams. They can't even run valve springs in those things because they couldn't possibly keep up.

sorry to disagre thayne a spec would kill f1. it has always been about building the baddest car out there and finding a driver with a big enough set to push that machine to its limits and beyond. the mfg tittle means as much if not more than the drivers to the teams. jmho

I have to agree with Longstreet there too. F1 plays a tremendous part in manufacturers technology and engine development. If you look at the manufacturers that have been involved in F1 in the last 25 years, they have some of the best most fuel efficient, reliable and powerful engines around. I believe that F1 has taught all those that care to listen that you don't need 7000cc gas guzzling big blocks to get power out of an engine. Honda for instance, was the best and most reliable in F1 long before it did the same on the streets. I remember when they entered F1 I thought "what the heck are they doing here, they couldn't build a decent engine if their lives depended on it!" I don't have that same opinion now!! The fact that in another thread, there were arguments about a 1600cc Honda 4cyl even coming remotely close in lap times to to a 350 cubic inch 8 cyl is a direct result of F1. IMO
