Third Win For Mack DeMan in Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget Series

Defending Champion Mack DeMan won his 3rd feature in a row Saturday night with the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets at Flamboro Speedway. Taking the lead on lap 13 from a very strong and determined Adrian Stahle, DeMan cruised to the win in the Andy Mackereth owned TQ #40. Accepting the winners trophy in Victory Lane DeMan said "I want to thank Andy for all his help here tonight. His set-up is always spot on and I couldn't do this without him. And a Big Shout Out to sponsor Lucas Oil, a great supporter of mine and this series."

Pole sitter Todd Cresswell set the pace as the field went to green. Coming out of turn two Stahle took the lead followed by Tyler Turnbull and DeMan. Rob Neely was in 4th with Cresswell now on his tail. Stahle opened up a sizable lead as Turnbull battled with DeMan for second place. Neely was in fourth as Cresswell was trying to hold off Darren McLennan to keep in the top five. With ten laps in DeMan was now side by side with Turnbull and made his move to take over second place and set sites on Stahle. Taking the lead on lap 13 DeMan still had Stahle on his tail as Neely passed Turnbull for third.

The first and only caution came out as Turnbull spun coming out of turn 4. As the green flag was shown for the restart, DeMan wasted no time taking the lead followed by Stahle. Neely and McLennan battled for third. Brandon Zavarella now rounded out the top five. One lap later Neely took over second and charged to try to catch DeMan. McLennan, getting stronger as the race went on, was now in third, Stahle 4th and Zavarella in 5th place. With 5 laps to go Zavarella passed Stahle for fourth place. Cresswell, running in the top 6 throughout the race went around Stahle to join the top five. DeMan was uncatchable and took the win followed by Neely, McLennan, Zavarella, and Cresswell.

Heats were won by Cresswell and Neely. Of Note...Rookie standouts James Marche and Steve Murdock qualified out of their heats and finished the feature in 8th and 9th place respectively. Rookie AJ Pescetti, in his first time in a Can-Am Midget, finished a respectable 13th. JR Fitzpatrick, running TQ #43 for Craig Mackereth made contact going into turn three, hit the wall and flipped the car. Also involved, Ryan Fraser hit the wall in turn 3 and was checked out by medical personnel. Both drivers were ok but the cars sustained a lot of damage.

The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets will head west on July 4th to 'The Bullring' at Grand Bend Speedway for 'The Bash At The Beach'. Celebrating their 50th Anniversary year, the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets will be doing their first of three 'Twin 25's' races this season.
