Wally Wilson Scores First Career OSCAAR Modified Top-10 at Sauble

Racing at his home track, Wally Wilson put together an impressive performance, posting his first career OSCAAR Modified top-10 on Saturday night at Sauble Speedway.

The night didn't start off smoothly, though, as he went for a quick spin in his first qualifier before posting a sixth-place finish. The second heat was no smoother, as he slowed to avoid a wreck ahead of him, with the car failing to start afterwards. As a result, he was credited with a seventh.

Starting 15th for the feature, Wilson avoided a couple restarts ahead of him to move up to 13th by the halfway mark. He continued to run there until a caution flew in the closing stages. With the restart coming with six laps to go, the leaders would battle hard for the top spot - which didn't pan out for them, as planned. Contact ensued, with cars spinning in different directions. Wilson would slow, avoid the crash, making his way through easily.

The race was then called by race officials despite five laps remaining due to time constraints, with Wilson being credited with a ninth-place finish for his first OSCAAR Modified top-10.

The next race for the OSCAAR Modifieds is at Sunset Speedway on September 23 and 24, as part of the track’s Velocity 250 weekend. Stay tuned to OSCAAR’s website (http://www.oscaar.ca) and Sunset Speedway’s website (http://www.sunsetspeedway.ca) for details surrounding the event.

Wilson will be in action before that, though, as scheduling conflicts and family will keep him close to home this weekend, competing in the Outlaw Midget event at Sauble Speedway on Saturday, August 26. Details about the event can be found via the Outlaw Midget website (http://www.outlawmidget.ca) and Sauble Speedway website (http://www.saublespeedway.ca).
