Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Rolls Back to Peterborough Speedway

After a week away from the track, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – is ready to run its second event of the year at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.
Saturday, June 11th will see the popular open wheeled tour return to its home track as part of a regular night of racing. All eyes will be on series regular John Baker Jr., as the Oshawa, Ontario speedster continues a quest to start the season with 3 straight trips to victory lane. Ontario Legends Series grad Duane Cinnamon will also be looking for another strong showing, after leading the opening 21 laps during the last series start.
Peterborough Speedway will also host the annual OMRS Test a Modified Day – from 11:00 ‘til 2:00 – Saturday, June 18th. Although its not a racing date, Richard Warnes – who along with Randy Hollingsworth and Bill Pickford make up the team of series officials – says it’s a popular event that gives drivers from other divisions the chance to experience these unique racing machines.
“At this level, few runners will spend their career in the same field. Racers like to move into different classes and this test will let them know what our cars are all about; at a track where we race 6 times a year,” said Warnes. “The cars are tweaked a bit to slow them down, but they’ll still get a pretty good feel for how our cars will handle compared to the equipment they’re used to.”
Warnes was also quick to point out the positive relationship that has been built between the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and the management team at Peterborough Speedway over the years. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse and general manager Dave Sikma don’t just supply a venue for the test, they also provide lunch for the series officials and participants.

After a runner-up finish, Ontario Legends Series’ grad Duane Cinnamon will be looking for another strong run with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – Saturday, June 11th – at Peterborough Speedway.
