True champions are also judged by the way they act off of the track and how they support there track fans fellow racers and sponsers, by not showing up how are you judged???
Gaunt, should have been there,he owed it to the speedway as they have treeted him like a king on and off the track for years .Botom line he did not win so he took his bat and ball and Bos's atitude and moved on ,he only lost the title coz he took a nite of, so he has to blame the track,it had to be some one or some thing elses fault he said a lot of bad things about the owners, the track and other drivers . Baker and Watson Showed up both class acts,so did most other drivers .Botom line true racers do not take nights of and Sore losers miss Banquets.
1. I would like to know if it is true that the reason he didn't show was because he didn't win. Did he have a previous commitment? Does anyone know for sure?
2. I don't agree that true racers don't take nights off. It is a HOBBY, it is not life. To say that because someone who has been in the sport for years is not a true racer because they didn't show up to the track one night is crazy.
3. Let's put it into perspective. It is a dinner and an awards show. For a hobby. There are a thousand things that could be more important on that night, or any race night for that matter.
