NASCAR WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES GROWS FOR 2007;
SIX NEW SPEEDWAYS GAIN HOMETOWN NASCAR RACING
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2007) - Six new short tracks have joined the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for 2007, NASCAR officials announced today. The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series is NASCAR’s North American program for local short track racing. The new tracks expand the geographic scope of the series, with locations in the eastern U.S., American heartland, the U.S. west coast, and into eastern and western Canada.
The tracks include:
All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif., a .250-mile paved oval at the Placer County Fairgrounds. The track is located near Sacramento, Calif., and operates on Saturday nights. The track opened in 1955 and was paved in 1972. It is operated by Brock Wimberley and Late Models will be the featured division.
Barrie Speedway near Barrie, Ontario Canada, a .333-mile asphalt tri-oval. In addition to the NASCAR Whelen All American Series, the track will also host two rounds of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Brad Moran is the track operator and Late Models are the featured division.Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome, a .375-mile paved oval operated by John White and will host SST Modifieds as the featured division. White also operates the NASCAR-sanctioned Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y. The Chemung track was built and opened in 1950 by Eli Bodine Sr. and Jr., the father and grandfather of Geoff, Brett and Todd Bodine.
Madera (Calif.) Speedway, is a .333-mile paved oval at the Madera District Fairgrounds. Kenny Shepherd has returned NASCAR racing to the track and Western Late Models are the featured division.
Sun Valley Speedway in Vernon, British Columbia, a .500-mile asphalt tri-oval operated by Bob Newcombe. Street Stocks will be Sun Valley’s featured division. The track, which opened in 2000, will host a round of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

NEW TRACKS
West Liberty (Iowa) Speedway, a .375-mile clay oval at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds., operated by Simmons Promotions, Inc. Keith Simmons also operates two other Iowa NASCAR dirt tracks, Dubuque Speedway and Farley Speedway. Simmons and the NASCAR sanction return to the track after a one-year hiatus. Simmons also returns the dirt Late Models as the track’s featured division.
“This is an exciting time to be involved with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR’s Managing Director of Racing Operations. “We look forward to another competitive season of hard-fought local short track racing, and welcome these six new tracks to the program.”
Embarking on its 26th season, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series features the best in short track racing across North America. Enhancements for 2007 include Whelen Engineering’s long-term commitment as series sponsor; an expanded championship structure that now includes track, state and national championships as well as ranking the top 500 drivers in North America, and a new television awareness campaign set to launch during the Daytona broadcast.
