NASCAR Legend “Bobby Allison” to Grand Marshall Big Friday Night Event

Riverview and Shediac, NB – Shediac's CENTRE for Speed will host the first of 3 75 lap “MetalCore Super Series of Racing” events this Friday Night with one of NASCAR's greatest stars overseeing the event as Grand Marshall. Allison, nicknamed “The Legend” in NASCAR circles is, one of auto racings greatest drivers of all time. A multi time winner of the Daytona 500 and Auto Racing Driver of the Year awards is also a Winston Cup Champion among many other honours. Allison will Grand Marshall the event including signing autographs and taking photos with fans and drivers among other planned activities.

If that wasn't enough it appears that the event is becoming a bellwether for renewing old rivalries as a number of former CFS competitors have announced their intention to compete including the return of “The Stinger” Laurie Cormier – a 4 time track champion. “The High Plains Drifter” Luc Bourgeois is also expected to be in attendance and with other top guns like Saint John's Rankin cousins, Calvin and John, and other successful CFS regulars like Shediac's own, Claude Gaudet as well as strong competitors this season including Riverviews “Thrill Maker” Craig Ward and Bert “The Intimidator” Cormier of Bouctouche, the stage is set for what should be a real “Barn Burner” of a night.

Also on the Metalcore Super Series Card for the speedways first ever Friday Night event are invitationals in the Street Stock and 4 Cylinder divisions with competitors registered from Sydney, PEI, Saint John and Miramichi areas. Last but not least it will also be the first ever trip by the Mini Cup series to the CENTRE. “This is certainly a night of first for us here at the CENTRE... we just don't know how many more firsts there will be till it's over” jested, track owner and promoter, Tim Wile. “I'm expecting that the biggest and fastest oval in the Maritimes will have some exciting moments in store for the fans and the drivers come Friday and when you add a great like Bobby Allison to that mix it's got to be a winner for everyone in attendance.

Front Gates open at 6 with fan side autographs and photos with Bobby from 7:15 to 7:50. Racing starts at 8PM sharp. Fans are urged to come early for the best seating. Adult admission is $20 while a family pass for 2 adults and 4 children is $45.
