Rick Spencer-Walt Confident in Team’s Speed Through Beginning of Season
Making his first trip up to Sauble Speedway for the 2018 campaign, Rick Spencer-Walt showed the speed that everyone is grown used to seeing from the No. 31 no matter the track or series.
Starting off the night for the their season opener with the Limited Late Model, Spencer-Walt laid down the quickest lap in time trials. He was able to carry that same speed into the pair of features, but would not get the finishes the team was deserving of due to being spun in both of those events.
Despite the night not faring as planned, the team is moving forward with confidence on their side, knowing the speed is there and they can get the job done when needed to. Hopefully luck will be on their side as Sauble Speedway will be the sight of the second round of the Great Lakes Concrete Series. Spencer-Walt currently leads the standings, following his victory at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity on May 21.
The focus will now shift back to the Pro Late Model, as their round of the APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour takes him to Peterborough Speedway on June 16 with the Pro Late Model. Confidence and comfort is in no shortage of supply there, virtue of a championship in 2015, and Autumn Colours Classic victory last October.
