For the second OSCAAR race in a row I was VERY disappointed with the car count. Not because the cars weren't there so much as the cars that Oscaar said would be there were not. The OSCAAR article in the latest ITMN said that we could expect Rob Clarke and Drew Spicer as full time drivers. Well Oscaar, they missed the first two shows. And a simple call to Clarke's business on Thursday proved that they won't be out for a while, yet OSCAAR promotes him as making his season debut at Kawartha on their website. They also promoted Bourque as being at KD, he wasn't. Bricknell, again, not there. The same for Spicer and Gowan. I understand that a series does not control it's car count but when will they realize that false promotion is not good advertising. I WAS planning on trying to make a local show or two this year but not now. Along with those drivers there is no Hanley, Owen, Tiemersma, Wilson, Beyore or King just to name a few. With all of the hype in the media over the off season 20 car fields were going to be the norm. Can't see them ever getting that this season. And one more rant. Why in a 12 car field do we start the fastest car at the front. Now that will make for a great show.  ::)  ??? With the current competition I can't see anyone beating Watson unless he breaks or Brandon or Hanley are in the pits. I'm glad the KD regulars had their usual great racing to save the show. Ken Donalldson won  his first feature in a small but very competitive Thunder field. Kyle Donaldson won in his return to LM followed by McHattie and Mercer. Sorry, didn't catch the mini feature. Someone help me out.

OSCAAR, get your act together

Yea the OSCAAR race was for lack of a better word.. A joke, 12 car feature... 7-8 yellow flags, not one lead change... Sad to say the least. Like you mentioned the KD regular classes were good last night, the LM field is ultra competitive again, and even though it was only a 9 car TC feature.. It was rather entertaining race.

I think the point was about OSCAAR saying drivers are going to be there and arn't,they did it the first 2 races and now predicting large field at Mosport.

i do understand what you are saying.  dave is just going by what the guys are saying. i know for one fella that said he would be there but the weather was good and he had to get his fields planted. and a couple of the other guys are waiting on their motors.  i know it is a let down when its said all these cars will be there and then dont show up. if very frusterating for the drivers and the staff of oscaar, but theres nothing that can be done. I dont mean to come across as a dick or anything.

Just a heads up hawnracing42, slapdown was there as he works on one of the teams regularly at KD and thankfully the KD drivers did put on a good opening night show.  Part of the frustration is that because OSCAAR is at the track for the night there is an increase in entry fee, as far as I'm concerned the additional money should have been paid to the regular drivers and not OSCAAR.  The fact is the series year after year continues to promote bigger better fields and yet the show never impresses.  When there is a decent car count the feature is a dumpfest  for the first 40 laps then the final 10 are about a few cars trying to battle it out.  If you can't put on a great race for the fans find somewhere else to run cause your wasting good track time for the regulars at the tracks where they race since they get put on the back burner when OSCAAR shows up.

I agree with you. I have been at both oscaar shows this year and had to pay 30 bucks each time and the racing wasnt that great not worth 30 bucks worth. I show up to help my local guys and a traveling series comes in and jacks the price up when the regular show is way better then the traveling series. I hope oscaar can find a way to get better. Cause it sure isnt fun watching the fastest car on the track start pole in a feature.

Okay if we are going ticket prices please blame the tracks not Oscaar they don't set the prices.I will give Mosport a thumbs up on this one I believe it's regular price to get in.

Agreed the tracks do set the price of admission, however that's based on the basic understanding the travelling series whatever it is lives up to their end of the bargain which is to provide a quality field and show for that track.  Sounds like OSCAAR has failed both tracks so far on their end of the deal.  I agree cudos should go out to Mosport for keeping their prices the same as a regular night of racing.  Maybe they have seen the results of the first 2 events and realized they won't get a larger then regular night crowd by increasing the price so no sense in hurting their regular crowd and kept the prices normal. lol

Oscaar has never lived up to it's billing no matter who is in the field. That was true before the OSLR era, and all that happened at and around that time, and it's still true ever since then. I love slm's, outlaw or otherwise, but this product just doesn't do it and I probably won't bother anymore. Not that fun to watch most of the time.

I was disappointed with that race too. I thought the season has gotten a lot better since then.
