Ryan Semple Leads Most Laps During Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway
INNSFIL, Ontario — Ryan Semple showed the speed capable of winning, but an incident in the late stages ended his chances of winning the Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway.

Semple was fast during qualifying, winning the first heat, followed by a sixth in the second qualifier.

Starting on pole for the feature, he immediately jumped out to the early lead, gaining a sizable gap over the field. With no cautions, it seemed he was on cruise control, maintaining a solid advantage until the race’s first yellow flag flew with 16 laps to go. Semple would get a good restart to maintain the advantage, though the second caution would come out just seven laps later. There’d be another two restarts, which were executed perfectly. Semple got a good third restart, set to maintain the lead, though contact from behind courtesy of another competitor would send the No. 64 spinning off of turn two with eight laps to go. Semple would ultimately be credited with a 20th-place finish.
