Patrick Sheltra Earns 2008 Casite Hard Charger Honors
TOLEDO OH (11-07-08)—Patrick Sheltra will be among the honorees at the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky on December 6th. Sheltra, in Dodges prepared by his family-owned team, finished sixth in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series Point Standings and also earned the 2008 Casite Hard Charger Award for the second consecutive season.
The Casite Hard Charger Award goes to the driver who has attempted to compete in every event on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule and has advanced the most spots over official start positions at ARCA RE/MAX Series events during the year, not including provisional starters. In 2008, Sheltra advanced a total of 120 positions, surpassing Frank Kimmel (108 positions total), Bryan Silas (106 positions), Justin Allgaier (104 positions) and John Wes Townley (83 positions) to win the season-end award.
"I'm really honored to accept the Casite Hard Charger award for the second year in a row,” said Sheltra. “Our qualifying program improved this year but as a driver I still have a little work to do. We have great racecars and I know it's been a great spectacle all year to see our car come from the back to the front when we don't qualify as good as we should.”
Sheltra finished higher than his starting position on 12 occasions in 2008, including Daytona (advanced 11 positions), both Salem races (advanced nine positions in both the Spring and Fall races), Kentucky in May (advanced three positions), both Toledo races (advanced eight positions in May and 20 positions in October), Michigan (advanced 13 positions), Pocono in August (advanced one position), Nashville (advanced six positions), DuQuoin (advanced seven positions), New Jersey Motorsports Park (advanced ten positions) and Talladega (advanced 23 positions). The Indiantown, Florida native’s 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season was highlighted by four top-5 finishes and nine top-10s, including second-place finishes at Toledo on May 18th and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on September 1st.
