So far from looking at already released track schedules this is what I've come up with.
June 15, Mosport Road Course
June 28 Barrie
July 12 Vernon, BC
July 18-20 Edmonton
Aug 1-2 Montreal
Aug 9 Mosport Oval
Aug 14-16 3 Rivers
Sept 6 Barrie
Sept 20 Riverside (Anitgonish, NS)
Sept 27 Kawartha
Nothing from Cayuga. Anyone have anything to add?
-
So Far I have seen this:
June 15, 2008 Mosport International Raceway Bowmanville, ON
June 28, 2008 Barrie Speedway Barrie, ON
September 6, 2008 Barrie Speedway Barrie, ON
Not sure if those are set yet or what not...
-
Geesh and I didn't even have the chance to get my thoughts of the schedule out yet...AJ and Morgie beat me to it! Good work ;)
I wish someone from NCATS would release the schedule but I do understand that they like to have ALL their t's crossed and i's dotted.
If the tracks have them posted it must be a tentative go. NCATS has to wait on the tracks to make up their minds also what they are doing in way of scheduling. Why it takes so long I don't know.
It is my practise in business you end a meeting with the scheduling of another meeting if the business is to continue.
-
No date confirmed but NCATS probably back to Riverside Speedway (Antigonish - Nova-Scotia).

Have Owners and drivers received this officially yet?
Greasemonkey.
-
was there (Riverside) 5 years ago and could really see the potential. Banking is great. Only negative is "get the haulers out of the infield". Anyone planning to go, check out the motels in nearby Antigonish.
-
the track is beautiful........why couldn't delaware refurb like riverside - that would be sweet.......
-
the track is beautiful........why couldn't delaware refurb like riverside - that would be sweet.......
$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$
-
Yeah...and getting the bigger haulers out of Delaware's infield wouldn't be such a bad plan either.
-
Riverside Speedway on September 20th
-
Any news from the Milton meeting yet - what about a schedule ?
-
I am just waiting for them to get home... if i find anything out i'll post
-
Yeah...and getting the bigger haulers out of Delaware's infield wouldn't be such a bad plan either.
Hey Shadowracer, at Delaware they used to make the CASCAR haulers pull out of the infield before the race, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why they didn't do it for the Friday night races? The Mosport oval has their tech building that blocks 1/4 of the back straightaway as well??? Even Daytona after they rebuilt the infield with fanfair and all, took away the view of the back straightaway for many folks that sit in the lower seats, they have that 3 or 4 storey building that gets in the way??? Oh well, at least Bristol got it right. ;)
-
Someone have any news yet?
-
all quiet on the nascar front.......maybe the teams are under a gag order........ :D
-
No Schedule released today. They say it will be out next week sometime. Basically what was discussed was technical stuff like trannys and carbs being changed for this season.
-
did they get rid of the t-10's heard there was a rumour of that.....what about carbs?
-
I think the Schedule is coming out at Performance World...NCaTS is waiting on some tracks to make an Offical Announcement.
-
Just spotted St.Eustache schedule showing May 31 for a NaCTS 250.
Also CAYUGA is now showing 2 dates May 24 and Aug. 30 for STOCK CAR RACE which I presume is NaCTS.
So this will mean a 13 race season.
-
Here is a part post that I had already posted elsewhere on this board.
TSN will also have coverage of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, which launched in May 2007. TSN will televise 13 one-hour broadcasts – one for each of the series’ 13 races – including race coverage, driver interviews and features.
-
May 31, 2008 Autodrome St. Eustache Saint-Eustache, QC
June 15, 2008 Mosport International Raceway Bowmanville, ON
June 28, 2008 Barrie Speedway Barrie, ON
July 12, 2008 SunValley Speedway Vernon, BC
August 9, 2008 Mosport International Raceway Bowmanville, ON
September 6, 2008 Barrie Speedway Barrie, ON
September 20, 2008 Riverside Speedway Antigonish, NS

except that mid ohio is on the Edmonton weekend and the Edmonton race is bleeding money like crazy. i guess for all my nascar bashing the lack of a schedule is understandable at this point, they likely do not want to loss one of two races in the west. come to Saskatoon if the Edmonton deal goes south.
-
According to the report that I read
http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/report-champ-car-indycar-deal-done/
the Edmonton race would likely be retained
-
but not the same date from what i have read.
-
Wow when you really start to dig you can not find out to much info on the cart races, look at long beach the race is April 18 there is no mention of support races TV package nothing , it is also the same for all there races , no info
could this be what is holding up the nascar ct series schedule, if the Edmonton race is not on the date we think it is then what would happen to the Vernon race date, I am sure that the teams could not afford to make two trips out west.
as for the teams out west that can only do the two races what would happen to them, do they get s--ed over again, got to feel for these guys.
But got to keep a positive outlook ;D
cheers

2008 NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
· 13-races, 11-tracks, 5-provinces Encompass Schedule
· Season gets underway on May 24 at Cayuga International Speedway
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 20, 2008) – Coming off a very successful first season, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio is set for more exciting action in 2008. Packed grandstands and final lap heroics were the norm a year ago, while this season a spirited battle for rookie-of-the-year honors along with Andrew Ranger’s title defense will only heighten the excitement.
The 13-race schedule, which kicks off Saturday, May 24 at Cayuga International Speedway, virtually will cover Canada from coast-to-coast. Over the course of the year, the series will visit 11 tracks in five provinces culminating with the crowning of the 2008 champion on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Kawartha Speedway.
Also on the schedule is a return trip to the demanding 1.973-mile road course of Grand Prix Edmonton. Last year over 60,000 fans saw J.R. Fitzpatrick overtake Ranger, who had led the entire race, on the white flag lap for the victory.
The Canadian Tire Series will also run in conjunction with the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Grand-Am Rolex Series, and KONI Challenge in 2008.
TSN, Canada’s leading sports network, once again will provide unparalleled coverage by televising one-hour broadcasts of racing action from each event in High Definition. The broadcast schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
"The inaugural season in 2007 exceeded all expectations and quickly established the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series as the premier stock car racing series in Canada," said George Silbermann, NASCAR Managing Director of Racing Operations. "The 2008 calendar builds on those successes and sets the stage for another exciting coast-to-coast championship."
Other key dates:
The 2008 schedule includes races on nine ovals: Cayuga International Speedway (2), Autodrome St-Eustache, Barrie Speedway (2), SunValley Speedway, Mosport Speedway, Riverside Speedway, and Kawartha Speedway; and four road courses: Mosport International Raceway, Grand Prix Edmonton, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, and Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres.
Autodrome St-Eustache is new to the Canadian Tire Series schedule in 2008. The track is in its third year as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, NASCAR’s North American short-track racing series.
On June 14-15, the series will run at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario at the facility’s 2.5-mile, 10-turn road course. The race is part of an eventful Father’s Day weekend along with the KONI Challenge Series.
In July, the series will make its western swing, with races at SunValley Speedway in Vernon, B.C. and at the Grand Prix Edmonton in Alberta. SunValley Speedway is a 1/2-mile oval and a featured track for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Race fans can circle August 1 and 2 on their calendar. This is the race in conjunction with the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. A season ago, over 130,000 fans made their way to Île Notre Dame over the course of the huge two-day event.
The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres, slated for August 15-17, is once again a highlight on the schedule. This year, the Canadian Tire Series event will take place on Sunday afternoon.
The Sept. 20 trip to Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia is a much-anticipated date. The track is a 1/3-mile scale version of the legendary Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

They gpot 60,000 people to see that race live? that number seems really high for a Canadian race?
-
Evan, it is amazing to see that many people there but i would say its definetly an accurate ##. alberta is a booming province and the grand prix weekend is huge. second only to the stampede weekend in calgary i would say. jw p.s. how accurate was my schedule from last week!?!
-
what happen with edmonton if the irl takes over champ car, they have mid ohio on the same weekend, would the ncts race be stand alone, i would hope they could move the mid ohio date. i guess thats why they sat tentative on the bottom.
-
That is great to see how they support racing. What is the highest attendance in Ontario for any give NCATS race?

-
probably barrie, with what appeared to be close to 5000 fans if not more with all the extra seating
and the stands in edmonton were pretty full for the NASCAR race ... 60000 is probably very close, especially with all the other events going on that day. To bad micks broke near the end of the race or it would have been him in victory lane instead of JR
-
I think Kawartha has the potential of big attendance numbers. If they always host the final race of the year, that will only get bigger and bigger. Riverside had awesome attendance, they could probably put in more seats for the ncats race and sell them.....they filled the place on a rain out!! Some serious race fans in that part (Nova Scotia) of this great country!!!
-
Well I'd say the 2nd Cayuga event or the 1st Barrie race were the highest attended in Ontario and it would be very close on which one was bigger. Kawartha could be a bigger event but the biggest draw back is that Derek can only fit so much temporary seating at the track. So until permanent seating is put in place the crowds just won't get much bigger. Something I wish would happen so that you don't have to sit in one of the 2 corners and miss the front stretch action of the pits and all. Sure you could sit inside in the covered grandstand but come on is that really racing?? You don't get to smell the fresh racing fuel and burning rubber, that's just not racing.LOL
-
The second Barrie event was higher attended than the first...by a LONG shot.
-
Apparently they made a minor change to the Wester swing. moved Sun valley and Edmonton one week later.

-
Apparently they made a minor change
minor??? ;D
My boss almost had a heartattack when I told him I needed an extra week off.
That was the easy part, the hard part is trying to drive back to Montreal in a week and get any damage repaired to the cars in between!
-
The second Barrie event was higher attended than the first...by a LONG shot.
I was told (by someone who should know) in excess of 9,200 people for the second race.
