Thorold, Ontario (May 12) – With a successful opening night to build on, Merrittville Speedway’s 2010 Lucas Oil Weekly Karting Series was hit with it’s first rain out of the season – Tuesday May 11th.

“Miraculously … we really hadn’t had any rain all afternoon – contrary to what the weather radar was showing,” informed (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “when it came just before the gates were scheduled to open it couldn’t have come at a worse time … several of our race teams were already in line … and surely many were on their way.”

Racing will continue Tuesday May 18th with all Original Pizza Logs divisions in action – Drummond Home Hardware Garden City Automotive Novice 1, Tim Phillips Garage KC Auto Parts Novice 2, RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1, Ed McPherson Construction Junior 2, Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Flathead, Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Wilder Racing Engines Senior Animal and the Cassell Manufacturing Senior Flathead Divisions.

Gates open at 5:00 with racing beginning at 7:00. Grandstand admission is free.

“I was sitting at home looking at the same web site … trying to figure out what to do,” furthers Kart Race Director Paul Klager, “no rain … until it came at the worst time!”
